More about Trutch Manor Tourist Suites
A Wonderfull Stay !!
Les, you greeted us like family when we arrived and we enjoyed your humor and down to earth attitude. We felt completely at home at the Trutch Manor. Marylin, your breakfast was so huge & outstanding I could'nt eat for the rest of the day!
The only down side was.......that we could only stay one night!
Les & Marylin, just like family though, you wont be able to get rid of now! See you soon,
take care, Krista & Clayton.
All you could want
Although our stay was only brief we could see why other reviewers have raved about Trutch Manor. Springtime in Victoria is so beautiful and Trutch Manor's location in a quiet historic street full of character homes and gorgeous gardens really sets the scene.
Then there is the accommodation itself - quirky corners, wonderful heritage furniture and pictures, collections to delight the eye everywhere you turn. We were very comfortable.
Add to that the breakfasts - outstanding quality, presentation and taste and a convivial atmosphere with the other guests.
The hosts, Les and Marilyn, are a great team. Les is a well-travelled character who ensures all guests know the 'house rules' so as not to disturb others' enjoyment of this establishment.
Finally, the value for money makes Trutch Manor everything a B&B should be.
Great Place to Stay!
Les and Marilyn are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Great stories about experiences in B&B Management and a lifetimes worth of stories to keep you laughing and well entertained. A very lovely place to stay, full of antiques, special memories for the owners as well as interesting stories about almost every item in the house. Immaculate rooms, clean and well maintained. Probably the best food I've ever eaten in any B&B anywhere. Kind people who care about their guests and their well being as well as the kind of trip that they're having. If you need a place to stay in Victoria, I can highly recommend the Trutch Manor Tourist Suites. Don't let the name fool you, it's Les and Marilyns home, and they'll help you to make it that comfortable for you while you're there.
Wonderful B&B! Great value!
We had a wonderful four night stay. Our first three nights were in the patio suite with a separate entrance off the garden. It was spacious, sparklingly clean and had everything one could need. Our hosts were very helpful and the homemade full breakfasts were spectacular. All for 85.00 a night! We were moved (at no extra cost) to a more expensive suite on the last night because ours was not available and they moved us with no hassles or problems for us. The location is perfect. If you are good walkers you can walk to anywhere in Victoria proper, downtown, the waterfront, the beach, museums, restaurants and a fabulous park. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
Awesome wedding anniversary
My wife and I have stayed at Trutch Manor several times over the years and would stay nowhere else when visiting Victoria. Immaculate rooms, outstanding breakfasts, beautiful property, the best hospitality that we have ever experienced. The Location is perfect, short walks to all amenities and lots of sights to see. Thanks Les and Marilyn for always making our visits memorable ones .
A Lovely Home Away from Home
This little gem is several blocks away from downtown Victoria on a quiet side street in a safe neighborhood. The restored Manor House is reminiscent of a bygone era but with all the modern conveniences. We received excellent service from the time we arrived and had our baggage carried up the stairs to our Laura Ashley environs. Our host took the time to recommend various sites appropriate for our 2 day stay and gave us detailed instructions and maps without which we most certainly would have gotten lost. The Andy Warhol exhibit ws on display at the museum which was within walking distance. ...loved the seafood at a restaurant off beach drive and the Thai food at a tiny cafe where the locals go...had hearty, scrumptious breakfasts cooked by our hostess. ...prepared us for our 5 hour exploration of the Butchart Gardens which is a "must see' for plant lovers.
All in all, the Trutch was a wonderful experience and we will want to return again for a more extended stay.
Great bed and breakfast!!!!
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying with Les and Marilyn for five nights. Our room was decorated tastefully with antiques and our bed very comfy...
We were treated royally every morning with a wonderful breakfast and met people literally all over the world.
We decided not to hire a car because of their close location to Victoria downtown and enjoyed walking the area. A map was provided for us with the best recommendations by Les and Marilyn.
A top notch bed and breakfast to stay at.. They both love what they do and it reflects in their business.
Trutch: Quaint & Comfortable
My wife and I had one room (the Parlour) and my mother had another room on the main floor for 3 nights. Our rooms were big and clean with dozens of knick knacks for atmosphere. I don't know how they kept them all clean.
Les was very hospitable offering restaurant suggestions and arranging a whale watching tour. Marilyn, with Les serving, provided excellent breakfasts that were almost too much.
We didn't take advantage of the full kitchens as we were out enjoying the restaurants and pubs. The location was great. A cheap taxi ride or walking distance from the waterfront after dinner, even for my 86 year old mother.
We definitely would stay there again.
We were delighted with our accommodations at Trutch Manor. Everything was perfect - especially enjoyable were the owners themselves, Les and Marilyn. This couple knows how to serve with care, artistry and good humor. The rooms are beautifully outfitted with comfortable antique furnishings - everything was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was well-stocked. We stayed in the Library Room. The B&B is located only 6-8 blocks from the downtown area and it was an easy walk. We also had our car, and appreciated Les's suggestions as to where to drive to see sites you couldn't get to by walking. Good restaurants were also pointed out on an easy-to-read map. Perhaps the most enjoyable thing were the breakfasts we had during our 3 day stay. Marilyn is a gourmet cook and gives careful attention to presentation, taste and abundance of food, both sweet and savory. My particular favorite was the airy french toast, served with a ham/asparagus omelette and fresh fruit. The best breakfasts we've ever had at any hotel or B&B. All is done with so much care, even to the point of bringing in your luggage and taking it out again as you leave. We drove away while Les waved us a warm goodbye. We have already recommended this B&B to friends and we definitely will be back! Thank you to Les and Marilyn for making our stay at the historic Trutch Manor so wonderfully memorable.

Hospitality at it's best!
From the moment we arrived at the Trutch Manor Tourist Suites we felt welcomed and at ease. Les and Marilyn are "real" people who easily demonstrate they still enjoy their profession. Fun humor, easy conversation, memory for names, eye for detailed decorating, cleanliness, free internet service and delicious breakfast with spectacular presentation are just some of the ways you can see Les and Marilyn's heart.
The location of Trutch Manor keeps you easy walking distance to downtown Victoria, Cook's Street Village and Beacon Hill Park. The location also gives you the opportunity to feel like you live in Victoria; having the chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of urban travel. Trutch Street is lined with large, turn of the century homes, beautiful gardens and invites you to tranquil neighborhood walks.
The suites are comfortable and have everything you may need to stay for weeks or evens months. We enjoyed two nights at Trutch Manor and we know we will make it our future Victoria "home away from home".
