Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside
The Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside is a lovely 5-star hotel just at the fringe of Whistler Village with gorgeous views of the Blackcomb mountains. For the avid skiier, it is just a short walk to the gondola and ski lift. I stayed at this resort for 2 days in October 2006 and was really enthralled by its surroundings. It was during autumn and the vegetation was already turning into hues of red, yellow and orange.
Unique Quality: The rooms are self-catering with a fully-equipped kitchenette. The bed is a pull-down cabinet bed and there is a second sofa bed. With both beds set up, there is not much space to maneouver around in the room. A gas fireplace keeps the room nice and warm. I had gorgeous views of the mountain from my room.

THE place to stay in Whistler Village
When the bus finally dropped me off at the hotel, I was like, "OH HELL YESSS!!!" I heard one couple say as I was getting off that they should have stayed there. It was awesome. It's the way you want to spend a ski trip if you're not renting a condo. When I got to the room, I couldn't believe that I was staying in the place for the amt. of money I was paying, which was a good thing. We had the best view. We could overlook the pool, the square, the bar across the way, and in the mornings we could see how long the lift lines were. It was 2 bedrooms with a fireplace in the living room. We had a table next to the kitchen. The kitchen was supplied with cooking utensils, and it allowed us to go to the supermarket and actually cook for ourselves several times. The bathroomwas fitted out with Aveda products and fantastic robes. It was the icing on the cake.
Unique Quality: I wouldn't say that all rooms have great views, but ours sure did. The heated outdoor pool is situated perfectly to overlook the square and people watch below. It's location is second to none. If you can, book to stay here.
Stayed for a week at the Pan Pacific Mountainside. We had a 1 bedroom suite which was marginally smaller than what the pictures on their webpage could give you the impression that they are. The room was nicely decorated, has all you could ask for and are spotless and clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is about 20 meters walk to where you buy skipasses and 50 meters from the skilift. Brilliant for the skiers in other words. I can recommend this hotel to anyone.
Wow - fantastic hotel in best location!

Went to Pan pacific mountainside over Labor Day holiday - very clean and comfortable hotel to stay in. Be sure to use the jacuzzi outside with gorgeous views of both Whistler and Blackcomb. Although it rained when we were there, we had a fun time. Check out the Dub Linh Irish pub in the hotel which actually has good chowder and cool local music. While in Whistler, do the Ziptrek incredible, lots of fun and memories. For food, Umberto's Trattoria (the one in the hotel behind Pan Pacific) was very very good - try to get a table at the kitchen to see everything going on. Ingrid's for sandwiches, Gone Bakery for soup are super. the only downside was Amsterdam Pub Cafe - absolutely terrible, overpriced food for breakfast. Other than that, Whistler was awesome!
Perfect location for the slopes

Second time visit to Whistler and chose the Pan Pacific Mountainside for its closeness to the gondolas and for being at the centre of all that goes on. We were not disappointed and would return again for sure.
Yes, the nearest Blackcomb gondola is yards away from the hotel entance and ski locker room. You have an Irish bar on site for apres ski and which also serves breakfast (that could have been better - try a crepe restaurant in the lower village.
The hotel has all the facilities you'd expect of a major hotel in a ski resort and rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped. Storage space for wet ski clothing could be improved and once assembled, the Murphy bed is a bit of beast and very inflexible when you kick it (often) by accident in the middle of the night. Service was efficient and unobtrusive.
There is a difference of opinion on this but one of the party suggested that for a major hotel player such as this the lobby was a little drab and unwelcoming??? Each to their own I suppose.
Recommended restaurants and dining during our stay included: Brew House (still the biggest ribs in town but the gimmick of the metal bucket has gone) Earls & Milestones
Great hotel, Weird Bed
by TripAdvisor Member CatFlu
We've just come back from 2 weeks in Whistler staying at the Pan Pacific Mountainside. I can recommend the hotel which was lovely. Aside from the obvious benefit of the location, the staff are friendly and responsive.
The only gripe I had that might actually stop me from staying at this hotel when I go back in December was the pull down bed. The bed is made up with a duvet (UK), doona(Aus), quilt (USA) as though it is a blanket so has a full set of flat sheets. Strangely, for a pull down bed, the bottom sheet is not a fitted sheet so would always untuck when we pulled the bed down. Also weirdly, the top sheet was slightly too small and didn't tuck into the bed properly. For the first week we were constantly tossing and turning trying to reestablish some kind of duvet/sheet order. In the second week we gave up and just used the duvet on its own (after having retucked the bottom sheet) and tried not to think about the fact that the duvet is probably never washed which is why they need to protect you from it with a clean sheet. This all sounds pretty pedantic really but if you're paying money for a nice hotel, you really want to be able to drop into a comfortable and properly made bed after a full day of boarding/skiing.
Aside from that, everything was excellent!
Great Hotel!

This hotel was really wonderful. The rooms are very nice, huge windows, super comfortable beds, nice bathrooms.
We had great service from everyone from the Manager to the valet. The location cannot be beat and it looks like most rooms get nice views.
My only negative comment would be that in the 2 bedroom condos, there is only a tv in the living room and the master bedroom. It would have been perfect if the 2nd bedroom also had a tv.
A great hotel

Unfortunately we only stayed one night. Fantastic service got the impression that nothing would be too much trouble for the staff. Great room we had one of the small suites with a kitchen. Great location right opposite the ski lifts. We felt the food in the Duhb Linn bar was fairly poor but the breakfast we has on the top floor the next morning was excellent and included smoked salmon. Very good value for money and hope stay again for longer.
What a view!

A lovely hotel. We did what many people probably do and went to the wrong Pan pacific in Whistler first by mistake (they have 2). We were not disappointed when we got to the right one. We had a suite with a pull out bed and a balcony, overlooking the ski lifts which were being used by the skateboarders due to the lack of snow. We ate out (Earl's - recommended) that evening and had breakfast at the Irish bar within the hotel on the following morning (waste of money, go elsewhere). Only stayed 1 night.
Whistler was a lovely place to stay, although apart from some beatiful surroundings, winter sports, shopping, and apres ski, there is little else to do in the Autumn. Would definitely go back to this hotel if we were ever in Whistler again.
Lovely Boutique Hotel

We are Starwood members and usually book with Westin or the like, but we also enjoy our Fairmont hotels. This hotel was very nice. We had a junior suite with a full kitchenette. It was clean, well decorated and the service was personal. You didn't feel like you were "lost in the crowd". It is a nice stroll into the nearby village. Citta's is highly recommended for good times and Umberto's for a lovely dining experience.
I wouldn't say that all rooms have great views, but ours sure did. The heated outdoor pool is situated perfectly to overlook the square and people watch below. It's location is second to none. If you can, book to stay here.
