Possible snow between 13th to 16th Oct 08

by kumar150908

Hi All,

Hope this does not sound lame. Where would the best place be to see snow in Whistler and how do we get there? I heard the winter lift shuts down for maintenance in Oct 08 thus how do we get to the peak? I would be at Whistler between 13th to 16th October 08.

Thanks,

Kumar

They had some snow in whistler recently and the web cam showed there was a fair bit. Think it may have melted by now.

You can check lifts here:

and the web cam here:

We were at Whistler 3 weeks ago and we caught a gondola and then a chaie lift to to the top of Whistler Mountain. No snow but still ice at various places.

Travel Tips for Whistler

Our eyes, the birthplace of our passions...

by s_odyssey

It is piercing silence up on top of the mountain. Forget using a lighter if you are going to have a ciggy, not enough oxygen...I learn fast...

The moment I stopped to take in the fresh air, what a relief...it is so peaceful.

Stay away from the locals, they will bring you bush wacking! No, no, in all it was fun going through the trees in untouched paths full of powder, just watch out for the holes surrounding the trees.

Mongolian feast

by realde14 about Mongolie Grill

In this place, you choose your own ingredients of meats, seafood, vegetables, and sauces and hand it over to cook, who will prepare your food right in front of you.

Everything is very frech and extremely tasty.

You pay by the weight.

BRANDYWINE FALLS

by balhannah

Just a short 20minute walk, and I was viewing the beautiful Brandywine Falls. There was a viewing platform, so I had a good view of these falls plunging 70 metres to the canyon at the bottom!
From the second platform I could see Daisy Lake, and what a view it was, with spectacular Mountains surrounding it.

If you are lucky enough to be here in Winter, I was told the Falls become icy, and are very pretty.
Picnic tables & chairs, plus Toilets are in the park.
There is a gate which is locked between the hours of 11:00PM and 7:00AM.

ALSO........
Day-use Area Vehicle Parking Fee: $1.00 per vehicle / hour to a maximum of $3.00 per vehicle per day.

Whistler Intrepretive Forest

by Albernfrau

This interpretive forest is 5 mins. south of Whistler Village. This forest offers many great trails all with educational blurbs on plaques along the way. The trails are beautiful as they offer shade on hot summer days but enough sunlight still filters through to light everything up. We walked the Rainbow Trail along the river. The river is incredibly strong. This trail takes you across a suspension bridge and at that point you can complete your circle by walking the East side trail back to the parking lot. This particular trail was 2.1 kms. I am sure the other trails are just as great as this one.

Whistler

This future site of the 2010 Winter olympics is very charming. Hats off to the village planners! We enjoyed our visit and will certainly return again some day even though we don't ski. However, be forewarned that it is quite pricey.
