by iwannabeaskibum

I arrive in vancouver from NYC at 10.30 thursday morning and will be hiring a car for the journey upto whistler as want to get out and ski thursday afo if i can.

If there is anyone else arriving at the same time whos looking to get to whistler & wants a ride then if youre willing to chuck in a few dollars toward costs get in touch!

...and if you know the way thats a bonus! :-)

Cheers
Gav

If your plane arrives at 10:30, there is no way you are going to get to Whistler in time to do any skiing on that day. It's about a 2.5 hour drive from the airport to Whistler and with having to wait for luggage then get your rental car, you probably won't be pulling into Whistler until around 3:00 or so.

Travel Tips for Whistler

Whistler Golf Club

by emilienoelle

Let me first just take this opportunity to apologize to the fine people at the Whistler Golf Club for all of the huge divots I made in their lovely grass. Yes, you can already tell by that last sentence that I am not a golfer and so you may ask, what was she doing at this gorgeous, Arnold Palmer designed golf course, backing up tee times for hours on end? The answer: I had no choice. But the truth is that even though I am not such a good golfer I had a blast (the cart was way cool.) And the views from this place were second to none. And hey, if you ARE a golfer I bet you'll think it's even cooler than I did. Well, I didn't have any, so I was given some rentals. (I used the 8 iron for everything because I thought it was the coolest one in the bag. Shhhh.)

Skiing

by RickinDutch

No snow when we were there, but Whistler/Blockcomb Mt. is the largest skiing area in BC. Looking at the trail charts, the selection and quantity of trails is diverse and huge.

During summer months, the mountain is used for a variety of sports including biking, bear viewing and hiking.

Head to the Village

by duanestorey

If you're looking for some nightlife, or a place to shop, then head down to the Village in Whistler. The Village is a european looking outdoor mall, complete with shops, restaurants, nightclubs, pubs and coffeeshops. While it's a tad pricey in the Village, the atmosphere and the people make it worthwhile..

Whistler Winter Wonderland

"Vibrant Winter in Whistler"

Looking for a way to pump life into a gloomy winter season? Look no further than Whistler. This ski resort is worthy of its accolades as one of North America's most exciting winter destination. Very easily accessed through Vancouver, Whistler has always been a memorable destination for me. Best enjoyed with a group of friends and relatives.

The best that Whistler has to offer is its snow and its 2 mountains (Whistler and Blackcomb). Perfect place to ski/snowboard though it gets crowded on the beginner/intermediate runs at times. In addition, what makes Whistler near to perfect is the facilities that it provides skiers/snowboarders. There's shops/eateries/restaurants on and below the mountains. In the valley, theres lots of accommodation choices and places to unwind after the runs. Everything makes it very convenient for visitors contributing to a total enjoyable experience.
