Whistler Condos

by gary99

Hello, we are planning a 4 night visit this summer to Whistler and are wondering which area to get a condo in. Any opinions out there? I have ski'd there, but haven't stayed in the summer. Upper village, North village, Creekside? We would like something not in the main village but nearby with mountain views where maybe we can walk to main village or take shuttle bus. Is the summer pretty busy or quiet? Any Olympics construction I should avoid?
Thanks VT'rs.

Whistler is not too busy in the summer but there are tourists. The village construction should be all complete by then.
Have a look at Snowy Creek condos. I'm not sure how many there are. These are 3 bedroom condos.
Creekside will be far from the village. Upper Village is a hike and shuttles run from The Chateau and Four Seasons. North Village is Ok, Pedestrian Only walk to the main Village

Hey Vancouver Dave, thanks for your response. You hooked us up with the Delta Hotel YVR airport last year and it worked out perfectly. We'll use it again. I may try for the north village condos just for the in-village feel. Found one at the Montebello condos which may work for us.

They look nice. I don't know them but alot of reports say they will work best in summer as they are bit of a walk to the village

There is a really cool mobile recreation guide and map of Whistler that shows the Village area and lists all of the accommodations. You can play it on your iPhone or iPod Touch. It's free at iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/seewhistler/id339077760?mt=8

Travel Tips for Whistler

Summer in Whistler

by duanestorey

Although you can't ski at Whistler in the summer, there is still a ton of stuff to do. Many of the local areas have great hiking trials, so if you like getting dirty and seeing some amazing views, then try one out. You can also rent bicycles in the village, and explore whistler that way. On a hike I did last summer, reaching this lake was worth the price of my sore legs..

Casual Locals Dining

by highermountain about Wild Wood Bistro & Bar

This place is the locals spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. 6 kinds of eggs benny and banana bread french toast. Voted best breakfast by locals 3 years in a row. As for dinner it has everything...great steaks, ribs, chicken, pastas, salmon, halibut, u name it. Biggest kids menu in Whistler. Voted best value for dinner by locals poll. Check out winners as voted by locals at www.piquenewsmagazine.com

this place is lined up daily for breakfast and lunch so be patient...these servers work their butts off! Sampler Benny...choose 3 different bennies...I like crab, smoked salmon and the natural (avocado & tomato)...

Go skiing or snowboarding

by duanestorey

Well, Whistler is one of the best ski resorts in the world, so if you make it up here, make sure you go skiing or snowboarding.. Lift tickets will run you around $65 CAD a day I believe, but it's well worth it.

Hike to Nairn Falls

by Albernfrau

About 20 mins. north of Whistler Village is Nairn Falls. The hike is 1.5km and it is a relatively easy hike although sometimes the rocks at the end can be slippery. At the end of the hike you are rewarded with powerful, gorgeous gushing waterfalls. Great photo opportunities. Check out all my many photos!

Home of the 2010 Winter Olympics

"At Long Last"

14 years living in the Lower Mainland and I had never visited Whistler until my partner convinced me to try downhill skiing. Originally from the flat region of Canada, I was accustomed to nordic cross-country skiing, so I had to acquire a completely new set of skills and familiarize myself with new equipment!

If you can learn how to ski on Whistler/Blackcomb, I am convinced you will be able to ski like a pro at any other resort in the world! Welcome to the Home of the 2010 Winter Olympics!
