Busted Boot Guest Ranch: Wonderful Guest Ranch Getaway
by Ames24
This place is just a short drive from Holland, a small town in southern Manitoba. The couple there are super friendly and accomodating, and willing to spend as much or as little time with your group as you like. They are passionate about hosting their guests and taking them horseback riding in the pretty countryside meadows around their ranch, or taking you down to the nearby valley and sandhills for a hike. They'll have fresh baked bread and a carton of fresh eggs ready to give you for your morning breakfasts. All of us in our group that went would recommend this place in a second to others. It is just a wonderful, affordable, relaxing, unique weekend getaway or indoors-camping experience if that's your style. And the hosts Charlie & Susan are super.
The cabin is unique in that they hauled in an old railway car and built a cabin onto it, forming a sizeable cabin that can sleep well.. many! The Canadian national girls volleyball team has stayed there, and a group of 42 apparently, with bunks to beds and a futon. A super cozy living area with a wood stove, stereo, and tv and VCR for movies (no cable!) decorated in leather and wrought iron. Some games are available as well as some lego for children. A kitchen and dining are there complete with dishes, stove, small fridge, and microwave. The bathroom is like one in your own house, and has a shower. On the deck is a hot tub into which you can simmer and relax after a day of horseback riding or hiking, or whatever is your fancy. There is seating on the deck, and a picnic table with a large pit for campfires just off of it, and they've got plenty of wood ready to go for you, whether for indoors in the wood stove or outdoors on the fire. Along with their many horses they have one donkey, goats, and chickens! If you want a sleigh-ride in the winter, they have sleighs to take you on one. It's pretty countryside too. Oh yeah, and they also have a teepee in the yard in which you can pay to spend the night. Cost for the cabin is $150/night for 6 people, with $10 extra per person per night. Horseback riding is $15/hr. per person and it's riding - it's not nose-to-tail riding. Super affordable, and a lot of fun. They love to take to the time to teach you about the horses, rounding them up, grooming them, and saddling them up, if you are interested.
