What to do in London?

by Arudberg

Hi!
I´m from Sweden and I´ve recently moved to London, Ontario with my family. I´ve got 2 kids(11 & 5). We´re looking for some nice thing to do, and to meet friends. Can someone give us some tip?

There's the Children's Museum, the Indian Village, Fanshawe Lake in the summer and more. If Wally World's still open your kids would love that in the summer, a waterslide, go karts, batting cages and mini golf. Plus the summer has lots of wonderful festivals, the Balloon Festival, the Rib Fest, Home County Folk Festival and more. I lived there for 10 years. Check out the London pages on VT, you should be able to find a few tips there :-)

You are very close to Stratford and the Shakespeare festival they have there. If I were there, given my prediliction for theatre, I'd see if I could get involved someway. If nothing else, it's a great place to visit and just enjoy.

I hope this is helpful.

Best of luck in your new surroundings.

Peace,

Lars

Welcome to Canada :-) I hope to visit Sweden in June! Where did you use to live in Sweden and what brought you to Canada? I'm not sure what to do in London, ON but if you take a day trip to Toronto, you could go to Canada's Wonderland, Ontario Place or the Ontario Science Centre for your kids to enjoy a great day. Cheers :-)

Hi Anita,
Greetings and welcome to London!
All of Hayward's suggestions are really good (especially the children's museum). I would also recommend Storybook Gardens (www.storybook.london.ca), located in Springbank Park. It's being renovated right now but will reopen June 28. A wonderful place for kids with a water park, petting zoo, etc.
If you want to get out of London and drive around an hour west, you can also visit the Wheels Inn in Chatham (see my page) which is hugely popular with kids -- although probably better for the 11-year old than the 5-year old.
I'm moving back to Southwestern Ontario at the beginning of June and come to London fairly often. I'd be happy to meet up with you sometime this summer.
Take care and have fun!
-Patricia

Thank you for your tip! I haven´t been on this site for long, but I hope you will enjoy your stay in Sweden.
I live in Göteborg, on the westcoust.
I´m just staying in London for 1 more year, then I´m going back to Sweden.
My husband works for a swedish company that has an office in London. They offered him a job here for 1 1/2 years, so we went.
Great adventure and experience!
Anita

The Canada Day Celebrations at Harris Park on Tuesday look good, in fact, they seem to be having quite alot of things happening this weekend.

Hope it's all going well. Have fun!
