Great location in Uptown Saint John
During the Championships, all participants were required to stay at the Hilton so we ended up spending 5 nights at this hotel. One of the best things about the Hilton in Saint John is the location - it is right on the harbour and although this meant we'd wake up every morning to see nothing but a very thick layer of fog, it was easy to walk to most of the city's historical sites and take part in the different activities organized around the harbour.
We had breakfast at the "Turn of the Tide" restaurant and it was good, but slightly overpriced. So for lunch and dinner, we went to the Brigantine Lounge instead and we enjoyed a great meal at a reasonable price, in a casual, pub-like atmosphere.
People working at the front desk were nice and very helpful, but room service wasn't so great. For some reason, even though we were four in the room, they would only leave three towels so each night we had to stop by the front desk to ask for some more. I once walked in on the maid as she was cleaning up a room and she made it a point to tell me it would take her quite some time to clean up that room - clearly they're more used to dealing with business people than a bunch of teenage athletes!
Unique Quality: The swimming pool was open from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm, which was great for the kids!

Better Than Expected
My husband and I stayed at the Hilton for a few days during the Canada Day celebration of 2006. We had a great time. The hotel is at a perfect location for exploring downtown. The service was excellent. Our room was over the harbor so we could see the Canada Day fireworks from our room.
I definitely recommend the Saint John Hilton. I would like to visit Saint John again and would stay at the Hilton.

Tunnel to Market Square shopping / NB Museum, etc.
