Rockwood Park Campground: Nature in the city!
Rockwood Park is one of the biggest city parks in Canada. It is located just a short drive away from downtown Saint John and on top of all the activities going on at the park, there is a fairly large campground. I have to say that I'd never been to a campground quite like this one before: they don't take reservation - if you're tenting, you just show up, pay, and find a spot you like. Only a few spots have electricity, most have no services. Most spots were fairly nice and the campground was quiet at night, but because you're so close to the city and especially to the train tracks, you can hear trains running all night long - not very relaxing! Oh, and another negative point about being so close to the city: yep, you've guessed it, the FOG!!!! So make sure you bring a heater or a really warm sleeping bag because with the high humidity, it gets really chilly at night.
Other than that, washrooms and (free) showers are alright. Ice and firewood can be bought at the gate, but there is no convenience store. If you want to find out more about activities at Rockwood Park (horseback riding, swimming, golfing, canoeing, hiking, and more!), there's an interpretation center located just a short walk away from the campground, and the staff will be happy to help you out. So to sum it all up, despite the slight inconveniences, at $20 a night I guess it was still a pretty good deal!

Fundy National Park: Comfortable camping
Good hiking and intersting flora and fauna. Many trails to explore where you can see the dramatic tidal changes. There were many many black flies when were there and could not dare venture to far inland. The Wolf Point or Headquarters campround would have been our choice, since the sea breezes would have controlled the blackflies. (at Chignecto we got swarmed)
Clean nice faclities, but the sites were covered with gravel which made tent sleeping a bit uncomfortable.
