Acreman House: Acreman House
Unique Quality: Seen in this picture is the Acreman House located on Acreman Point in Battle Harbour.
This house during my visit in 2004 was in the process of being restored and once finished will be available to stay in like the other cottages in Battle Harbour.
I discovered many of my own family routes during my visit as my mother's maiden name is Acreman.
Gordon and Will Acreman used to own the house. Gordon Acreman a businessman in Battle Harbour and Will a fisherman and both brothers of my late grandfather Hughlet Benjamin Acreman.
This particular house is in a strategic location at the far end of the island, a short walk away from the other cottages. When it is restored it is going to be a big house great for a family.
It's also a great location for whale watching from your deck, listening to the sea and storm watching during fall season for sure.

Conference Room: Conference Room
Unique Quality: The Conference Room on the island was once the storage area for the Battle Harbour General Store. This beautiful room is located above the General Store. This allows close proximity to the only telephone link to the island.
The conference room is spacious and in my view makes the ultimate retreat experience for business and organization that are looking to get away, relax and refocus.
This is a small patio as well outside the conference room that makes a nice place for breaks and more enjoyable views.

The Cookhouse / Bunkhouse: The Cookhouse / Bunkhouse
Unique Quality: The Cookhouse / Bunkhouse, includes twelve bunks, a large kitchen with woodstove. This hostel type accommodation will allow you to experience a traditional out-port setting.
If you like hostels this is a good option for meeting other back packers that make the trek to Battle Harbour. The bunks are comfortable, there is a general area with a kitchen and stuff and a nice deck.
By following my link below you will see a picture of the bunks in my travelogues. It's the last photo in this particular travelogue.

RCMP House: The lock up!
Unique Quality: The RCMP ouse is a beautifully restored structure that was the residence for RCMP officers stationed on the island. This house has all the modern conveniences included two double rooms upstairs and two single rooms on the lower level.
The RCMP has a great deck area for sitting and enjoying the great views. The two rooms upstairs also have great views.
The room I stayed in used to actually be the jail sell and the bars remain to this day on the windows. There are also lamps in here like all the houses in Battle Harbour for an authentic feeling!!

The Inn has another great lookout and views of the community.

The Spearing Cottage: The Spearing Cottage
Unique Quality: The Spearing Cottage was once located on Double Island and was used as the light keepers home. The Spearing Cottage is located away from teh other cottages and is perfect for those who want a little extra privacy. The cottage includes two bedrooms, one double and once single, a full kitchen, bathroom and electricity.
For me walking around Battle Harbour this cottage really stood out because of the colorful paint that was so common in the early 1900s. There was also a nice deck on this house.

Issac Smith Cottage: Issac Smith Cottage
Unique Quality: The Issac Smith Cottage is the oldest private residence on Battle Harbour Island. A night in this historic cottage will transport you back in time. This cottage includes three bedrooms, one double and two single. Keeping with traditional lifestyle the Issac Smith is lit only by oil lamp and heated by wood. For convenience, hotwater is available and bathroom facilities.
This cottage is very very authentic, the wood heat and lamps make this a great experience. The old bath tubs, day beds and rockers make this a great place to try in Battle Harbour.

The Grenfell Cottage: The Grenfell Cottage
Unique Quality: The Grenfell Cottage is beautifully situated with an excellent view of the harbour. The Cottage includes three bedrooms, one double and two single, a full kitchen, breakfast nook, dining room, parlor and luxurious bathroom. The sun porch and veranda offer an ideal spot to gaze at the magnificent ocean view.
You are staying at a National Historic District. These accomodations in particular even have interpretation and artifacts throughout the cottage.
The kiddies room lookout is a great room in this cottage to cosy into!!
