Delta St. John's was a great hotel and considering I wasn't paying a cent for the room, even better! It is located very very close to George St (where we went practically every night) so it is an easy walk even in sub 0 temperatures.
The staff is very accomodating and friendly considering we were a noisy bunch of international college kids. Even when we were 'busted' for a party, the security was patient and let a few finish their drinks. They have a beautiful grand piano in the lobby that we played at 3 am and a little tipsy. As long as you can REALLY play, the front desk staff won't make a sound. Only chopstick will move them to politely ask you to stop playing. (My rendition of Titanic was greatly appreciated considering it sank 365 miles off St. John's coast!)
There was a nice business center with two computers so you can check your email, print, and make phone calls.
Also, some of the rooms have georgeous views of St. John's, however, even our standard room was great! The maids were the best I've ever had at a hotel. Good or bad, they rearranged all our tolietries in the bathroom....and when two girls are staying in a room for a week...they make a mess.
Mickey Quinn's is AWESOME! It's their bar/restaurant. We had a party there one night with a live local band. It is decorated in Irish pub decor and while the service was slow to my American standards, it is a great place to just relax. (You HAVE to try the fries with gravy, cheese, and vinegar...yummy at 3 am!) Theme: HotelDirections: Downtown St. John's--close to all the shops and George Street
