Shand's Lookoff Bed and Breakfast: The Most Scenic Accomadations in Nova Scotia

Owned and operated by Phil and Chris Shand, this lovely Bed and Breakfast has two rooms. The Ocean Garden room upstairs has an ensuite bathroom, a double bed, cable tv in room and of course the lovely view of the ocean. The room is big enough to also include two single cots. The Captain's Quarters room downstairs has a private bathroom outside the room, a double bed and cable in room. You get somewhat of a view, but not as nice as the upstairs room. Both rooms come with breakfast in the morning and breakfast includes bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, pancakes, ect... The grounds outside the Bed and Breakfast are very well-maintained and includes a lot of gardens, a treehouse for the children to play in and an area where Captain Phil (who is the captain of his own lobstering boat) will show you and tell you all about lobster pots and how they catch lobsters. Rooms range from $80-$95 per room (2 people) cots are $10 extra a night. Open from April until October

Ok, I may be a little bit biased since my parents do own this Bed and Breakfast, but seriously we have the most awesome views around. Situated on a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean you get a lovely panoramic view. On clear days you can even see across to Cape Sable Island, and a few lighthouses. Things to do in the area include: The Chapel Hill Museum and Sea Tower (see if you can spot all the lighthouses from this scenic sea tower), an Alien Museum (Shag Harbour is the spot of a UFO sighting in 1967) there is also a nice little gazebo and picnic area where you can see where the actual spot of the sighting of the UFO. You can also take a walk up to the local wharf and talk to the local fisherman, who always love to see the tourists. Also talk a walk to the Post Office and get your postcards stamped with our special Alien stamp. Shag Harbour is only 7 minutes away from Barrington Passage where you will find grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, banks, ect... Shag Harbour is also close to a few beaches. Also a baking business out of the bed and breakfast, so you can get fresh baked goods to take with you! About 3 hours from Halifax, go west on Highway 3, when you come to Barrington Passage go straight through the only set of lights and from there it will only take you 7 more minutes to reach us. Our Bed and Breakfast is signposted at the end of the lane. From Yarmouth take Highway 103 about a half hour to the Pubnico/Woods Harbour exit on your right. Then turn left at the gas station and head down through East Punico about another half hour and then you will find us in Shag Harbour :)
