DO NOT STAY HERE
This place is a tip. We stayed here, fortunately, for just one night after arriving in Halifax at the start of a 2 week touring holiday and so just needed a place to crash for one night before picking up our hire car. Although on the outskirts of town the location was convenient for the car pick-up point. The web-site looked o.k. but as we pulled up outside my heart sank. The neighbourhood looked distinctly dodgy and the tramp like bloke sitting on the front steps didn't do a lot to inspire any confidence either. Congratulations to the designer of the web-site - you had me fooled. The whole place is down at heel and in need of refurbishment.
Unique Quality: Our room itself was basic to say the least but appeared to be pretty clean although we didn't dare to check things too closely. Sometimes ignorance is bliss !! We left our stuff in the room and headed for downtown Halifax on foot but as we stopped on a street corner to get our bearings I felt distinctly uncomfortable and more than a little vulnerable. A feeling that I have never felt anywhere in downtown Halifax.
We got a cab back to the hotel purely to avoid having to stroll through the area on foot after dark. There was an unspoken assumption that we would be giving breakfast a miss for obvious reasons.
It is unusual for me to give anywhere such a slating but I think that, on this occasion, it is richly desearved. I really can't believe that the entries and the positive comments on the guestbook are genuine.
Needless to say, we will not be staying there again.
