I stayed at the Cambridge Suites in the summer of 2006 for 2 days/2 nights. It is by far the best value for the buck among the Sydney hotels, motels and inns.
It is centrally located in downtown Sydney, so one is close to restaurants, bars, liquor stores, shops, and malls. The airport is approximately 20 minutes drive from C.Suites.
The best rooms at Cambridge Suites overlook Sydney Harbour -- a beautiful view day and night. These rooms are usually booked 2 and 3 months in advance during the summer.
The suites are clean and are equipped with mini bar, TV, video game console for the kids (for a fee, of course). The bedroom area is partially divided from the living room area, which makes the room appear larger than your run of the mill hotel room.
The price of a suite is comparable to a room at one of the other large Sydney hotels/motels, including the Delta and Holiday Inn.
Unfortunately there is no pool, so if you're looking to get a break from the kids for awhile by letting them burn off some energy in the pool, you might want to consider the Sydney Delta instead. Or just let them go for a dip in the Sydney Harbour :-)
The C. Suite's restaurant, Goody's, has a nice ambience and the food is quite good, though it is pricy.
