The closest (and maybe only) hostle within the vicinity of Algonquin Park is Wolf Den Bunkhouse. It's a clean place tha toffers hostel style accomodation as well as some separate rooms. The hostle building is really well built, nice facility, and provides a good way to meet other travellers.
The rooms themselves are rather spartan and can be a bit noisy at times with the sounds of people upstairs. However it's a great place to stay - clean, reliable, extremely close to the park, and a good atmosphere.
We had planned on car camping the first night in the park in preparation for our five day canoe trip but with rain threatening and a late arrival, we figured it was better to stay inside to get our gear ready. We were quite happy to find this great hostel just up the road from the park entrance.
Unique Quality: Great rustic decor and homey feeling in the main house that includes a full and spacious kitchen and fun lounge area. The young owner was very helpful and friendly and his prices were quite reasonable. There were separate bunkhouses that contained dorms and private rooms in the main house. Dorm space was CAN$20 and private doubles were CAN$50.
Directions: It is right on route 60 that becomes the corridor road of the park in a matter of miles. It's on the right side of the road coming towards the west entrance of the park.
