This masterpiese, which once housed the Post Office, Customs House and Navigation Shool, is a must-see. The exterior features a rich marble facade decorated with Corinthan columns and topped with a copper roof and central stained-glass dome. Notable interior features include rich oak, marble and wrought iron details.
Free of the earth, suspended high above the ground, you have the most spectacular view possible of Georgian Bay and the surrounding countryside. With a sturdy wire fence lining the walkway, even the smallest adventurer can see everything.
Collingwood was up until about 1970 well known for being a ship building town, as well as having the grain elvators to take on up or down the Great Lakes. That is all gone now. It is still the gateway to the highest elevation of skiing in central Ontario - especially now with ownership by Interwest, who developed Whistler BC. There are also the apple orchards towards Thornbury, and summer cottages and homes for those wanting to enjoy the waters of Georgian Bay
Collingwood located on the southern shore of Georgian Bay and at the foot of Ontario's highest ski hill, Blue Mountain, in the heart of one of Ontario's most attractive year-round recreation and tourist destinations.
