Visit the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum at Hamilton Airport. Here you can see an assortment of aircraft, including Second World War fighter planes. Here I am standing in front of a Royal Canadian Air Force plane.

Exploring Albion Falls downstreams

by Faiza-Ifrah

As my daughter and I decided to hike on the easier Escarpment Rail Recreational Trail back in the conservation area where we had parked our car, my husband, son and his cousin hiked along the fast flowing water of the creek downstream. The slope was comfortably sharp. The walls of the ravine were heavily forested, but the bed was full of rocks and the water was flowing at a high speed meandering through them.

While we were still at the Falls, a mother with two kids and a dog came down and immediately started the hike down the ravine (picture 1). This was our clue to get going too. The trio found negotiating the rocks only moderately difficult, but I would surely recommend good quality hiking shoes that are waterproof, as one of the two younger lads later narrated to me horrors of slipping on the rocks.

The party reported it to be a moderately difficult hike enjoying carefully stepping over the rocks, with greenery of the trees on the ridge line and muddy walls of the ravine in between.

Surprisingly, they reported that wildflowers were conspicuous by their absence.

Exploring Webster Falls

by Faiza-Ifrah

A steel staircase and a steep trek took us on a deep descend in the gorge where the beautiful waterfall upstream and rapds downstream welcomed us.

The only disturbing aspect was that the gorge and the waterfall was being assaulted by hundreds and thousands of weekenders. In their attempt to get better pictures, men, women and children were trying to reach spots closer to and even under the fall. Then we saw what was inevitable. Couple of women slipped on the slippery rocks and got badly bruised.

Webster Falls is 22 metres high and 30 metres wide.

Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum

by Tom_Fields

This is Canada's answer to the US Air Force Museum in Dayton. The collection is more modest, but still impressive. The docents are very knowledgeable. This is a must-see for any aviation buff visiting the Toronto area.

It has a number of the famous and not-so-famous aircraft that served in the Canadian forces, to include the Avro Lancaster bomber, the CF-100 jet interceptor from the 1950s, and a number of Canadian versions of US planes such as the CF-100 Voodoo interceptor and CF-86 Saber.

Some of their planes are outdoors; to visit, you must have a docent escort you outside. That's because an operational airport is just a quarter mile away, and they have no barrier to keep visitors off the flightline.

There is also a nice little gift shop and cafe.
