Beautiful Sunset on Lake of the Woods
It's coming down!Fishing adventure!
"Work is done, time to go fishing!"
After cutting & splitting a load of wood to take home, it is now time to get the fishing gear together & go fishing.
"Heading out!"
We pack up the gear & ourselves onto the suzuki & head down the back logging trails to find a lake that has pickerel (or walleye as the Americans call them).
"Taking the scenic route!"
We drive by an old log cabin that has been there for decades. It makes for a good picture.
"The trail gets a little rough!"
We end up having to put the suzuki in 4 / 4 & going across a stream not knowing how deep it is. The water was still bellow the vehicle floor, so we made it across ok.
Once we made it safely across the stream, we then have to go through the swamps. Some of the spots didn't look to promising, but we still kept on going splashing dirt & mud all over the vehicle & ourselves.
"Time for a pitstop!"
We are almost there. It's time to stop so we can wipe the mud off ourselves & to have a beer to wash down the road dust (sounds like a good excuss to have a beer anyways).
"Made it!"
We then head out again & have to go through some more swamp and the go we follow 3 wheeler trail through the bush that is barely wide enough for us to follow. Once you're on the trail, you have no choice but to go as far as the lake because their is no possible way of turning around to head back.
We finally made it to the top of the rock by the lake. We can see the boat & motor waiting for us to go fishing with. It's a beautiful day, warm & no wind. Can't ask for a better day to catch ourselves some supper.
"Good old suzuki!"
You can't even tell that the suzuki is black in color, it has mud on it from one end to the other. At least we faired out a bit better, we are only partially covered with mud.
"It was worth it!"
We finally got to do some fishing & did very well in catching our limit of Pickerel. We had a great afternoon of fishing & getting some sun.
Once we got our limit, it was time to load everything up on the suzuki & head back through the swamps to make it back to the cottage in time to clean the fish and have ourselves a fish fry (& beer)
