beautiful Killbear Park
Killbear Park is one of the Beautiful Provincial Parks in Ontario. Although to my opinion it is not the best of all of Ontario, but still very beautiful.
You can find Killbear 30 minute drive northwest of Parry Sound on Highway 559. It is located in the middle of Georgian Bay's 30,000 Islands, Killbear sits on the southern edge of the Canadian Shield. There are about 1400 campsites devided over several campgrounds, all close to the water.

Sharing your campsite
Don't expect to have the campsite all by yourself! This cute little chipmunk stayed there as well :-)) It was quite fun to see it race around from one tree to another. It was a shy little chipmunk though, it didn't let me get too close.

Lighthouse campground :-)
Hahaha, I thought this was a funny coincidence :-)) I stayed on the Lighthouse campground in Killbear. As maybe a lot of you know, I have something special with lighthouses (see comment on the must see activity).
I made reservation for the campsite online. Wow, never knew before that it existed, but it works perfect! On the website of Ontario Provincial Parks : http://www.ontarioparks.com/ you can find a reservation system. You can make reservation for quite a lot of the Provincial Parks here. Select the dates and search for the Provincial Park you would like to go to. You can see right away which campsites are still available and make reservations for the one you like best. Costs for making the reservation are $9 (canadian). For cancelation of the booking you have to pay $6.
Besides these reservable sites, there are always sites available on a 'first come first serve' basis. I didn't take a chance on that this time, because it was a fairly busy weekend, so I made the reservation online. Be aware that the Canadians go camping a lot during the 'long weekends' and that the campsites are bound to be full on those dates.
