Medical facilities in London

Could anyone tell me about the medical facilities in London? What is the system there? I am from India and am planning to shift there in Oct.
So are medical treatments so expensive there? I am planning for a baby so how much does it cost for a delivery there[aprox]? I have no idea because in Indian it's very different. Thanks in advance!

England has a national health system. Depending on your visa, it could be you are entitled to free care. The system is slow at times and varies in quality from place to place. There is also private insurance if you want to pay for that. It makes seeing consultants much faster but it's expensive. I think it will really depend on why you are in England and what your visa is about. You could check that with the British Embassy in India.

Sorry for writing about the wrong London. :-) I think Canada also has a national health system so maybe my answer would be the same for that country. It probably works a bit differently than in the UK, and I should know having lived most of my life in the U.S. But I don't.

Google OHIP ( Ontario Health Insurance Plan).
If you are registered in OHIP your baby will be free.
But you have to become registered in OHIP first
which requires landed immigrant status
and then you have to be a resident of Ontario for
some designated period of time ( 6 months I believe)
before you are registeded in OHIP.
I am not sure what it costs for a baby delivery if you are not
registered in OHIP.

In Alberta, a hospital stay averages on $1000.00 a day if you don't have coverage, so I expect in Ontario it's approximately the same. Also, you would have to pay Physician's fees on top of that. If you are going to have a baby, you should try and get registered with OHIP. Remember, also, there are prenatal visits to the Doctor, etc., so the costs could be astronomical if you aren't covered.

TOURIST INFORMATION CENTER

London has two TOURIST INFORMATION CENTERS. One is the Downtown Information Center and is located at 391 Wellington at the corner of Dundas and the second is the Wellington Road Tourist Information Center at 696 Wellington Road South, the one we went to. As Hans and I were spending the day in London, we wanted to see what this lovely city had to offer. There were lots of books and brochures available. Also there were coupon books for restaurants and activities.
Open daily.
Remember the Military Past

In Victoria Park you will find the War Memorial, a tank, and some information on the British Military in that part of the country.
There is a wonderful memorial in memory of the women killed in the Montreal Massacre, Dec 4, 1989... may such a tragedy never happen on another university campus, in Canada or anywhere.

Port Stanley
Located about a half hour drive south of London on Lake Erie. This small town has an amazing beach and there’s lots of lovely shops for browsing in and spending all your money. I really like it though in the fall when the leaves have changed and the drive down is gorgeous.

Every summer Victoria Park holds Sunfest. Enjoy the vendors of international crafts and wares. Excellent food from all over the world. Public music and dance kicks up a beat. Great for all ages. Gets very busy on nice days.

Covent Garden Market

Like it's namesake, this is a covered market where all kinds of vendors sell their wares. I used to go down and buy fresh veggies, bread, cheese and meat. And if I was in the mood for fresh flowers there were some great flower vendors as well.
It's expanded since I was last there, I hear it's even got an ice rink now!
