Fishing on the Credit River
From its headwaters in Mono and East Garafraxa townships in the north, the Credit River flows south to Lake Ontario with a watershed covering 1,070 square kilometers. The Credit River supports lots of fish for fishing enthusiasts.
The fishery can be divided into two sectors - the upper Credit River and the lower Credit River. The upper consist of the Credit River headwaters and tributaries to Inglewood in the south, and the lower from Inglewood to Lake Ontario.
Due to the cooperation amongst Ministry of Natural Resources, the Credit Valley Conservation Authority, and local fishing clubs, the population of native brook trout and brown trout have increased to an impressive level in th upper Credit River. On the other hand, the lower Credit River supports an abundant salmon Fishery - coho, chinook (largest of Pacific salmon), and pink salmon are all present. Well, this would be obvious - you will need all fishing gear.
