It is pretty uncommon to find houses built with siding in the suburbs near Toronto, but the houses in Newmarket offer a much wider variety of building materials and styles. Some are done with siding, others in brick, and many of the structures that are designed to be "historical" (if they are not, in fact, from a far earlier era) are done in a pseudo-British style (like the pub below). Newmarket's historical development (first as a separate town, then, gradually, as a continuation of the suburban sprawl north of Toronto) has given its architectural heritage a fair bit of diversity.
