Rushing water=calm soul
The sheer beauty of the falls, especially at night when they are lit up. I can sit and watch them for hours. You can take all the tourist crap surrounding the falls, I just need the falls to feel good.

Hi,
I plan to spend 2 nights at Niagra Falls (1st week of April 2009) and I dont want to spend much on accomodation.
Please help me with following information:-
(1) Transport (Bus / Train) from Toronto Airport to Niagra Falls (name, location, ticket cost, etc)
(2) Under 50 $ (CAD) accomodation in Niagra Falls
(3) Lowest possible accomodation budget
Thx
hello Aquil:
Public transportation from Toronto Pearson International Airport, unfortunately, is not a great choice. From the airport, GO Transit (www.gotransit.com) offers bus service eastbound into north Toronto (@40 minutes). To get to downtown Toronto, travelers would have to get a connecting bus or subway. Total travel time to downtown Toronto from Toronto Pearson International Airport using public transit is about 1.5 to 2 hours. you will have to take another bus or train from toronto to niagara falls.
for a cheaper rental accommodation you will probably like to lodge in a nearby city like st. catherines or niagara on the lake. but then there will be another transportation problem for you to commute to niagara falls.
perhaps more experienced budget travellers in this region will be better able to advise you.
regards,
there is another similar post and a great response couple of posts down. in order to find schedules for trains from toronto to niagara falls, pls go to:

First, you are coming to Niagara Falls, not Niagra Falls.
There is no public transportation from the airport directly to Niagara Falls. You would have to take the Airport Shuttle bus($20) to downtown Toronto, and then take a train (Viarail $25)or bus (Greyhound or Coach Canada $28) to Niagara Falls. You can also take a private shuttle service (Niagara Airbus $68). Hotel prices in Niagara Falls are generally quite high and can reach hundreds of dollars per night at large hotels in the summer. There does, however, appear to be a few that have rates for this time of year in the $40-$60 range. The hotels.ca site lists some (http://tinyurl.com/dzaj6c). The one on this list that jumped out at me was the Imperial Hotel and Suites at $49, which is a fairly decent hotel very close to the Falls and attractions.
In Niagara falls in candaian side provides all the needs in best way good food best Hotel possible way to cross the border with a rented car .

Our winters are cold and tough. Bring gloves, hat, scarf, boots and good warm long jacket if you are planning on visiting Niagara Falls in the winter. It's extrememly beautiful to see The Falls during winter, the snow falling. It's amazing.
Fireworks over the Falls - in the summer on Fridays at 10 pm, and on some Sundays. Very special to watch fireworks over the illuminated waterfalls. Don't have any photos, since they don't turn out when you are too far away.
The Famous is a 24 hour, upscale diner. You can find it in the Fallsview Casino. It is decorated in Art Deco, and the service was very reminicent of bygone days. Quick, efficient, and very friendly.
The food was fresh and hot, and the portions were perfect. I had the veggie omlet. The veggies were not overcooked and very fresh.
My companion had the pea-meal bacon breakfast. She absolutely loved it. said it reminded her of the fresh pork that she would get on her grandmothers farm when she was a little bit .... pea-meal bacon is canadian bacon, canadian style. Not anything like we're served in the states, and much better tasting.
The Little Red Rooster is a squeaky clean restaurant with a relaxed, slightly country vibe. They serve home made meals and sandwiches on fresh bread at very reasonable prices. The waitstaff is extra friendly. If you have kids, they offer a very nice children's menu and their meals come with a small sundae, so you can get them off your backs about getting an ice cream! They also have outdoor seating and serve beer and wine. The turkey club has thick slices of real turkey breast. They also have daily specials that come with soup.
