The Mandarin restaurant - health concerns - Is it true???

by moreofless

The Mandarin location in Niagara Falls is always extremely busy. In December when we went to the Mandarin it could best be described as "slow". We went early and there still was not a wait when we left. We have never seen that situation at any Mandarin location. The next day we asked someone we know who works for a restaurant in the area and were told the Mandarin was putting food from plates back into the food for the buffet. Does anyone know if this is true? Was it this location? Can someone posts a link or cite a reference to an article? This situation seems to have caused the Mandarin to lose business and, if true, is a serious health concern. Can we get the truth?

Not sure how we tourists would be able to answer with any authority - or tell if this is a malicious post or not.
TAKE CARE!

Here's the link provided by the Ontario Health department: http://infodine.yourniagara.ca/InfoDine.aspx

You can type in the name of the restaurant you're looking for and it will let you know whether or not it is in compliance with health standards.

That has got to be the quickest way for any restaurant to lose their licence. Not something any place would want to do in the highly lucrative Niagara Falls market. I would follow Jefie's suggestion and check up on the health inspector's reports if I were worried about this.

moreofless, as has been pointed out to you on Tripadviser last week and on here today, there has been no inspection issues at the Niagara Falls Mandarin at all, no one else seems to have heard anything about this, there has certainly been nothing in the local media, so I would have to say that the truth is that there is no truth to your rumour.

Methinks that someone has an ax to grind with the Mandarin. I would not take this posting seriously. Any such one time anonymous postings to denigrate a specific vendor should be taken with a grain of salt.

I am so surprise to see this post. Their food is perfect. I am in Niagara Falls for over 20 years and Mandarin might be the best restaurant in the town for families. I am pretty sure that somebody post this in purpose.

Travel Tips for Niagara Falls

Dollars to Loonies Exchange

by miwhi

We just returned from Niagara Falls Canada, had a wonderful time and learned a few things.
It isn’t necessary to exchange your USA dollars for Canadian dollars as we didn’t find a single business that wouldn’t take USA dollars for par (1$ to 1$), but be warned you only receive your change in Canadian currency. This is not a problem except on the day you are heading Home and don’t want to get stuck with a bunch of Canadian dollars and change.
We found the best and friendliest place to exchange currencies USA to Canadian and visa versa was at Casino Niagara’s cashier’s booth, it was fast, friendly and there was no pressure to gamble if you didn’t want to. Seeing the Falls lit up at night on the Canadian side is a memory fo a lifetime.

Killer Whales, Marineland

by kris-t

killer whales are actually friendly here. you'll have the rare opportunity to see, first-hand, just how affectionate, as well as incredibly intelligent, these beautiful friendly giants of the sea really are.

Butterfly Conservatory

by TimDaoust

How amazing was this? It's a bit expensive to get in (like $10 a person) but well worth it. They usher you in to see a five minute video about butterflies and then you walk into this huge greenhouse with hundreds of butterflies and moths floating around. They even will land on you if you're still.
One thing to note is that if you're here in the winter time, it's a lot hotter inside than out so don't bother with the coat or you'll be carrying it around. they instruct you also not to touch the butterflies. Stay tuned for a travelogue with the best of my pictures.

Niagara Falls Taxi

by kris-t

Reservations to most hotels not needed, call 1-800-363-4900 and they will be there in 10 minutes.

Some rates:
Taxi Cab transportation from the Buffalo International Airport about CAD 94.

Taxi Cab transportation from the Toronto International Airport about CAD 180.

Taxi Cab transportation from the Hamilton International Airport about CAD 110.

Tasty pizzas

by davidlop about Don't remember

A typical sports bar, but they serve pretty good american style pizzas, and you have a good span of beers to choose. Of course, if you like watching sports, then it has a big attractive also... Pizzas are tasty and not too heavy for a lunch.
