Purchasing souvenirs
by janika
Ok, here is an advise. Try not to buy anything around the falls. Prices can double on everything. Especially on souvenirs.
Take a short walk into town and buy stuff there. You will see a lot more and for a lot less.
.
. I remember this cabin like building. More like a wooden castle. You find washrooms, bank machines (ATM) and shops. Restaurants are better and cheaper in the city!
You see the huge clouds behind the fence.
It feels like it's raining there.

Sales Tax in Niagara Falls!
by machomikemd
SALES TAXES: Sales tax vary somewhat around the region wherein Ontario has a 8% Provincial Sales Tax + 7% GST (both of which international/US visitors can get rebated on purchases of goods) and in Niagara Falls, NY Side the local sales tax is 8.25%.
Stores stay open until 6:00 p.m. in most parts of Niagara. Many city and suburban stores are open until 9:00 p.m. at night for two, three or five weeknights.
Watch fury of Niagara River and activities on it
by Faiza-Ifrah
By leaving the well marked trails of Niagara Glen and carving our own way carefully (picture # 4), we approached the banks of Niagara River where we saw it in all its rage. The rapids would have been ideal for white water rafting, but instead these were being negotiated by whirlpool jet boats (picture # 1). The spots near the river offered wonderful views of the river upstream (picture #s 2 and 3), the aero car over Niagara Whirlpool (picture # 5), the rapids, and the mountain and river bank on the US side of the Gorge. Wesaw a couple of families picnicing on the US side.
Affordable and Tasty

This restaurant was excellent! The service was great, the place itself had a nautical feel, it was nice and cool on the hot summer day, and the ambience was great for a couple and would be for a family as well.
One problem about the place was the location. Because of the layout of Niagara Falls streets, we ended up on Portage Road on the other side of the sity (near Marineland) while the restaurant was located on the complete opposite side of the city. It can be challenging to get at, even with Mapquest directions. I tried the lobster stuffed mushrooms, and the seafood breaded platter. It was so worth it, and it was better than Red Lobster, and half the price.
Good food at a reasonable price

We had to wait for a table. That's a reflection of how popular this place is. While we waited we sat near the bar where sport was on the tv and every table had a bowl of monkey nuts. It's obviously the rule to throw the husks on the floor which is great fun but feels a bit naughty!
