out on the town in Niagara

by malooloo

I have two quick questions: What are the very nicest hotels to stay at closest to the falls and where are the best places to go out clubbing?? Thanks! Mel

This probably won't help you... but if you're looking for something moderately priced, the place we stayed at in NF (Canadian side) was called "Happiness Inn"....

.... nothing fancy, but clean and neat. And the proprietors are the nicest, most accomodating people you could ever hope to meet. Reasonably close to the falls themselves, too.

Can't help you with night-life, sorry.... not my scene.

We stayed at the Marriott Fallsview. Its a beautiful hotel in a great location...walking distance to everything. We were on the concierge level, which has a nice lounge just for that floor. I can't help with night life either, but I can tell you the name of a REALLY good Italian restaurant - Mama Mia's on Vitoria Ave. I've been twice, in two different trips, and had wonderful food each time! The carbanara is fantactico!

My Husband and I stayed at the Ramada on the falls. We were on the 11th floor and had the best view of the falls. We could even hear them in our room we were that close. It was the most beautiful honeymoon ever.
I can't help you with the clubs though, we didn't go to any clubs while we were there.

Travel Tips for Niagara Falls

Remember your passports

by Dabs

It's easy to forget that you are in a foreign country while in Niagara Falls but if you want to pass over from one side of the Falls to the other on foot or in a vehicle, you will need to bring your passport regardless of your nationality. Once you pass through the turnstile on either side, you are locked into going across, you can't just wander out onto the bridge and snap a photo and come back without going through customs/immigration.

Don't drive around Clifton Hill

by theagent

I took a bus from Hamilton but Niagara Falls is very pedestrian friendly. All the sites are pretty close together.

Please leave the car behind. Driving Clifton Hill is like the Las Vegas strip on a weekend. Save yourself the aggro.

well worth it

by JoelAM about mick and angelo's

casual atmosphere, hockey/sports memorabilia, large portions, many choices(wings, italian,tex-mex, steaks, burgers) prices decent for the niagara area. also seems to be popular with local residents too the wings are fantastic(but so is everything else!)

The Boat House

by kris-t about The Boat House

Close to the tourist trap area, yet off the beaten path. Great variety in food, reasonably priced, nice atmosphere and service. Amazing view of the Chippawa creek and blossoming flowers accross the street.

The special was a steak and fries for $8.00
