More about Oban Inn and Spa Niagara Falls

Oban Inn

by hayward68 about Oban Inn

I took my former boyfriend here as a surprise when he was visiting from Scotland. He lives 30 miles from the original Oban Inn located, where else, but Oban, Scotland. The people who built this place were from that Scottish town.

There's a great pub in there where you can relax and have a drink or have a full meal in one of the dining areas.

As the name suggests, it's also an inn, so you can stay here as well.

Wineries and Hotel by Niagara-On-The-Lake

by yecats13

We will be spending a day and 1/2 in Niagara-On-The-Lake area. We would like a hotel (not b&b) that would be elegant and romantic and also centrally located. We are also interested in going to at least 2 wineries while we are there. Any suggestions on the best wineries with the best tours? THanks in advance.

I have three recommendations for hotels in Niagara-On-The-Lake: The Pillar and Post, The Prince of Wales(where the Queen stayed) and the Oban Inn. All are very good, near the centre of town, very romantic and quite expensive. Unfortunately I am not up to date on the winery issue but someone in one of these hotels will probably be able to help you.

As for wineries, the 2 most notable are Inniskillin and Cave Springs, both of which have a late harvest Eiswein which is phenomenal (I prefer the Cave Springs, which pours like syrup).

About the wineries: I went to Niagara Falls on the Magic Bus (from a Toronto Youth Hostel) last Winter and we stopped by a winery called Magnotta. Not sure exactly where it was because I wasn't watching the road much, but the guide told us that things were cheaper there because they do not sell to the LCBO, only to customers who drop in!

Travel Tips for Niagara Falls

A Picture Perfect Town.

by crazygal59

This lovely Canadian town is well worth the 20 minute drive from the Falls. Not only is the drive there lovely, the town itself is picture perfect. Dozens of interesting little shops to explore and really nice restaurants as well. This town is very well worth a one or two night stay. There is great live theatre.

watch the parking fees

by JoelAM

more and more hotels are charging for parking which i really don't like(haven't i paid enough already?) some are quite pricey up to $20 CAN a day which ain't much less in $US lately i paid $8CAN a day at the Courtyard Marriott(which was the only thing i hated about this hotel) some fancier places parking is valet since the lot is off site. so with the tip factor every time you go in and out you 're up over $25CAN PER DAY. some places DO NOT divulge this anywhere so you get a big surprise. street parking is permit for residents or metered (24 hrs a day to boot) so there isn't much choice. so ask first before you find out the hard way. an aside here-- if you are staying in the area of the new Fallsview Casino, most hotels here charge up to $20CAN a day for valet parking--I've heard you can park free at the casino garage if you're a players card member( its free to join too) and if you don't mind a block walk to save $20 a day

The best steaks in town

by Melann about The Keg Steakhouse and Bar

We ate dinner here 2 nights in a row. I had the terriyaki steak classic which comes with a huge salad and an entire loaf of hot bread (small round loaf) and a choice of potato and a vegtable. The steak was sooooo good I ate the same thing both nights. Cooked to perfection. The service was quick, if you are lucky enough there are tables that over look the Falls. Hubby had steak first nigth and chicken florentine the 2nd night this was also very good. The 2nd night we did have to wait 30 minutes because they were so busy but it was well worth it.
