More about Parliament Cottage B&B circa 1840
We were holidaying in the Toronto area and made a last minute booking for 2 nights at this NOTL B&B.
From ringing the door bell to backing the car out of the drive 2 days later all went superbly well.
Lovely home, with very nice communal area. Good location within easy walk of main downtown area. Bedroom ( we stayed in the 24 Sussex Rm ) was very comfortable, well furnished and clean.
Host was very knowledgeable and helpful on the local area, wineries, and restaurants.
I don't know where to start regarding fantastic breakfasts!
Have never been to NOTL before, but if we're fortunate enough to head this direction again we know where we will stay - Parliament Cottage.
A Perfect Weekend Get-Away
My wife and I just returned from a weekend stay at Niagara on the Lake. What a refreshing change Parliament Cottage is from the average hotel. For that mattter, what a refreshing change Parliament Cottage is from a nice hotel! We thoroughly enjoyed everything about this place - the incredibly well-cleaned rooms, the abundance of thought that has obviously been put into decorating this house while maintaining a lot of very interesting historical details.
Isabelle was very conscientious about being available to meet us as soon as we got into town, and gave us a warm reception, including a quick tour of the house, some well-enjoyed "free passes" to several local wineries, and offers to make reservations for us at recommended local eateries.
We loved the location - not in the middle of the hustle of downtown, but within easy walking or biking distance. Oh, did I mention that Isabelle provided us with two courtesy bicycles that were at our beck and call all weekend?
And the breakfasts! Suffice to say I can still taste the fresh fruit "appetizer" we started each morning with, and the fresh scones...wow!!!
All in all, we are recommending everyone we know go to Niagara on the Lake, and a big part of the reason is to experience the down-home hospitality this place provides.
And a great time was had by all!
My friends and I just returned from a 5-day stay at Parliament Cottage Bed & Breakfast. It was a thoroughly satisfying experience.
Isabelle Parliament is a wonderful hostess. She arranged dinner reservations, provided directions and suggestions for places to eat and things to do. All were excellent. And Isabelle herself is well traveled and interesting to talk to. We had many conversations about the history of the Shaw Festival, the plays and actors, which enhanced our theater experience.
The rooms at Parliament Cottage are clean, comfortable and attractive. There is a lovely sitting room where my friends and I met in the morning for coffee and a beautiful garden where we had an informal dinner of cheese and wine. The cottage itself is an easy and pleasant walk to town.
Most impressive are Isabelle's remarkable breakfasts. Truly gourmet, they were as delicious to look at as they were to eat. From french toast with brie to blueberry scones to strata on puff pastry, everything was wonderful.
I heartily recommend Parliament Cottage as a great B&B experience.
Best B & B we've ever been to. Isabelle's home is truly fabulous, from the furniture to the decor, right down to the reading materials in the sitting room. The gourmet breakfast was to die for. I purchased one of her cookbooks of recipes from only tasting one breakfast. The room was perfect with a private bath attached. The linens were fresh and soft, and felt great on the skin after a long day of site seeing and wine tasting. The atmosphere was relaxed and quite enjoyable. Great location as well. We plan to be back and will be recommending this B & B to all of our friends.
dlightful bed and breakfast
My friends and I had a fabulous few days staying at this cottage. It was idyllic in every way. Delicious food, lovely surroundings and Isabel was the perfect hostess. We hope to return in the near future, and would recommend this cottage to all.

A Truly Wonderful Experience
I and two friends were delighted to have had an exceptional bed and breakfast experience at Parliament Cottage. From the inviting sitting room and dining room to the charming and comfortable bedrooms, everything was well thought out and designed to make guests feel welcomed and at home. The gourmet breakfasts were a treat for both the eye and the palate. Our hostess, Isabelle, was very knowledgeable about the area. Her recommendations were right on target, and she even made dinner reservations for us. In addition to the tasteful surroundings and wonderful breakfasts, we very much enjoyed our conversations with Isabelle, and we look forward to enjoying her hospitality again.
It really is wonderful
We went to Parliament Cottage based on other reviews. They did not do it justice. We loved Niagara on the Lake and much of the reason was the amazingly complete, and willingly shared knowlege and opinions from our gracious hostess, Isabelle. She never steered us wrong and always made us feel so welcome and enjoyed. The cottage is light, airy and delightful. The other guests were a pleasure and the breakfasts were awesome. My husband likes to take early morning bike rides and doesn't mind missing breakfast.; however, after our first wonderfulbreakfast he decided it would be fine to ride later because he didn't want to miss Isabelle's wonderful creations.
We, as everyone else, recommend this B and B highly.
Lives up to its reviews and recommendations
We've just returned from our Niagara-on-the-Lake weekend getaway. One of the highlights of our trip was our stay at the Parliament Cottage B&B. We loved the location. It wasn't far from the main street (about a 10 min. walk), but it was tucked away enough that we didnt' have to hear all the cars honking and loud noises. We also had the use of the B&B's bicycles which we took advantage of. Nothing beat cruising down the main thoroughfare with a picnic lunch in our backpacks, passing all the cars and not having to find and pay for parking. We stayed in the Rideau room and had the exclusive use of a washroom across the hall. The rooms were amply sized and very clean. Breakfast was a true gourmet's delight. I still have fanciful visions of Isabelle's (owner/host) warm blueberry biscuits and lemon ricotta pancakes. If not for the wineries, the Shaw theatre - I may just come back to sample some more of Isabelle's morning treats.
We have just returned from a month of traveling Canada. Our stay at Parliament House was terrific. We were greeted by Isabelle our lovely host who made us feel welcome instantly. She quickly became our travel adviser for the night and we were sent off to a local restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed a gorgeous meal out.
We slept soundly in a very well decorated and comfortable room. In the morning we were treated to a wonderful breakfast, not your standard fry up that's for sure!
I would happily recommend staying with Isabelle as I'm sure you will have a great experience.
One of the best
The house, room and grounds were wonderful, but the hospitality and the food was the best we have ever had and we would highly recommend it as a great plase to stay.
