At 209 Queen Street is the Richardson-Kiely House, c1832. The house was constructed by Charles Richardson, a barrister and member of Parliament. The property is now operated as a hotel, THE CHARLES INN which backs onto the Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Course.
Unique Quality: History:
The Charles Inn was named for Charles Richardson, who built the house in 1832, not long after the War of 1812. Richardson, a barrister and member of Parliament for Niagara, first used the house as his principle residence and later as his summer house. The verandahs and servant's wing on the east side of the house were added to the original Georgian-style architecutre home at the turn of the last century.
Qualities:
A recently refurbished Inn with twelve guest rooms, fine dining with private room for small gatherings.
