This is the Contemporary Photography Museum and some boat locks just down the street from the Parliament buildings. I didn't have time to go in this museum, but the sheer size suggests it has something for everyone.

Hello! We will be in Ottawa on Christmas Day with our 2 kids. Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant for Dinner? We are looking for the traditional turkey etc.
Thanks!
I am sure most hotel restaurants will be serving traditional dinners, but you could also check with these restaurants.

The Byward Market are in Ottawa is our main tourist area and is right downtown. (ie. walking distance from Parliament Hill, Rideau Canal etc..)
Merry Christmas!
Thanks for the information. Do you know which hotels are offering dinner? Which ones are better, and do you have any idea of price?
Merry Christmas to you too!
I've been discussing this with some friends and apparently, the best (and classiest) turkey dinner can be had at the Brookstreet Hotel, which is out in Kanata by the Scotiabank Place. However, if you're looking for something more central, and cheaper, there's Tucker's Marketplace, which is a buffet-style restaurant, but I'm sure they'll have turkey. Of course, as mentioned already, most hotels will probably offer something.
A lot of trendier, most upscale restaurants are not offering turkey dinners for Christmas and many places might be closed.
Good luck in your search. Let us all know where you went in the end, so that we'll know for the future.

In Canada the first language is English but don't forget that we also speak French. Some do anyways. The culture here in Ottawa and in most of Canad is similar to the one in the USA. We have many things in common with our American neighbours, like the language we speak, the holidays we celebrate and the cars we drive. We also celebrate Halloween. The kids dress up in costumes and go house to house for candy where sometime the owner scares them with decoration of skeletons and carved pumpkins placed at the front porch or in the window. Here is a picture of a Canadian Harley Davisdson superstore. Very American and very Canadian at the same time! If you come to Ottawa in the winter time, prepare for cold, very cold weather.
Although the exterior design of the buildings at Parliament Hill are impressive, the interior architecture is very beautiful as well, especially the Centre Block which is made from hand-carved limestone and sandstone. There are several beautiful carved art pieces, as well as paintings of the British empire e.g. Queen Elizabeth. For best viewing, you can join the daily free guided tour of the Centre Block. For more photos of the beautiful interior, please see my travelogue on this VT page.
ice skate along Rideau canal in the winter, it's the longest outdoor skatting rink in the world!it gets very cold especially if you ice skate at night so dress warmly. I used to wear my ski suit, looking like a complete idiot, but hey .. I'm a tropical girl, and I can skate for hours that way! ice skating along Rideau Canal and stopping for hot chocolate and beaver's tail
Ottawa is the national capital of Canada and around the city you will see symbols that are representative of all Canadians.
In this case I am in front of a totem pole common to the western Canadian aboriginal population.
