I have recommended the Delta Hotel because I have a picture of it and it is in a great location, the rooms are big and food is good there. It is right downtown and you can basically walk to everything from here.
But I also have seen the http://www.albertatbay.com/ and the Marriott and stayed at the Crown Plaza all within the same couple of blocks, these are all great choices from which to explore the rest of the city!!!
Delta Ottawa Hotel And Suites: Right in the downtown core!

Awesome place! Spent one night here last year with a friend (who worked at Delta)... getting a free suite rocked :) Everything was top notch and the service was great.
Views, Location, downstairs bar/lounge, umm what else.. oh on the top floor there is an executive lounge. Very cool, you can just walk in with your keycard and chill out. Lots of couches and a nice tv. Great for meetings and or parties ... just dont make too much noise!
I stayed at the Delta Ottawa in the spring of 2004 on a short business trip for a training course.
I stayed three nights and found the property unremarkable. That's actually good, because don't usually hesitate to remark upon a property's shortcomings. It didn't really have anything extraordinary that made it stand out, but on the other hand it was a good place to stay.
As previously stated, I didn't find this property to have any outstanding characteristics. The service was good, the room was good and clean and the amenities were adequate.
The Delta Ottawa is in a very good location (along with several others in a bit of a clump) It is very close to Parliament Hill as well as the core business district. It's also walking distance to the Byward Market, National Gallery, and several other attractions. The War Museum is only a short drive away as well.
Stayed here one night in July of 2007, got the room on Hotwire for a nice price. The hotel is completely acceptable - no real complaints, and nothing that blew us away. The location is good (right near outdoor mall area, close to Parliament), staff was friendly and rooms were nice.
Not my first choice for my next trip to Ottawa (I'd prefer the Westin or the Courtyard depending on price), but I would have no issues with staying here again.
To understand my horror when visiting the Delta Ottawa Hotel and Suites, here's what my room was like:
- old, stained, wall paper peeling from walls throughout unit
- extremely dirty conditions throughout (light switch filthy, air vent blocked with dirt, throw-up or something similar on wall in bathroom, etc.)
- leakage stains directly above bed on ceiling (by the fire detector), which is a joy to look at just before going to sleep ;)
- the iron was old and dirty so I couldn’t use it properly to quickly touch-up a shirt for the next day – ironic to be staying at a supposed “4-star” hotel and yet being forced to spend the following day in meetings with packing crease in the front of my shirt :(
- OVERALL, massive neglect
Delta Ottawa rooms smell moldy... possibly explaining why the wall paper is peeling from walls.
