Another downtown hotel
I used this hotel in 2011 for 5 nights.
It was renovated recently and that was clear at the new build spacy lobby area.
In the rooms only the bathroom part seems to be new and the flatscreen TV.
The air condition work well, although it produces a kind of draft in the room.
Breakfast was great, with a bar and a buffet and local newspapers available.
Cable Internet and WiFi is on every room.
In the lobby is an ATM, with accept most cards.
I had no time to check out the gym and pool at the 5th floor.
Unique Quality: Close to the Rideau Center and Byward area.
Directions: From the 417 Queensway highway take the Nicholas Street exit.
At the tird light take a left and in the middle of the street a right into the public parking garage.
Gop to level B1 for the Novotel entrance by elevator.
An Acceptible Mid-Ranged Hotel
The Novetel is a well located hotel that catters both to business people and the tourist class. I got a discount price offer for staying here and I found for what I paid for the hotel was quite good. The Novetel is very modern and is part of small office complex. The staff here was pretty helpful and fluently bilingual, a necessity for Ottawa. My room was large and well decorated.
Unique Quality: The Novetel has a good restaurant but it is over-priced. There is also a bar but it is not very busy and had cold unfriendly look to it.
Directions: The Novetel is located just a few hundred meters east of the Parliament Buildings. The Bytown market is just steps away. Unfortunately so is the grungy Rideau Street district.
Novotel Ottawa Hotel
As all Novotels, this one offers all modern amenities. It's spacious and clean and located right in front of the Parliament Buildings and the Chateau Laurier, and a block from the Rideau Shopping Centre and Ottawa's famous Bayward market. Highly recommended nad great prices.
Quiet ambiance, nice people, in a nutshell: good experience
Unique Quality: The Novotel Ottawa hotel is ideally located in downtown Ottawa in the heart of the Nation's Capital. One of the finer Ottawa hotels, it offers its clients a warm, cozy and intimate accommodation experience. The hotel specializes in personalized, friendly services in a quiet stress free environment.
Pleasant Downtown Hotel
Very solid in all respects. They have their own downtown indoor parking, which is very nice. Ottawa is a very walkable city in the summer, so we left our car parked and enjoyed the city on foot.
Unique Quality: Apparently this is a hotel chain based in France, which was a little unusual for us ugly Americans. (I always think of a chain as being an American thing only, which I know is wrong, but I still can't get it out of my head.)
