Quality Hotel Downtown Ottawa
I spent two nights at the Quality Hotel, and had a pleasant stay. The front desk staff was courteous and helpful, and the room was clean and modern.
I had read other reviews elsewhere about this hotel, and most of the complaints involved parking availability. I did not have a vehicle with me on this trip, but then I really didn't need one to get around downtown since everything is within walking distance.
The restaurant is Don Cherry's, and you get a full complimentary breakfast with a night's stay, not just a "continental breakfast", which was a pleasant surprise.
More pictures are available on the hotel's website.
Unique Quality: Clean room, modern shower fixtures, cable TV with in-room movie service, radio, free local phone calls, free high-speed Internet in the lobby and in-room Internet service available, coffee maker, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, bottle opener, and tubes of shampoo, conditioner and skin lotion are provided. Pets are allowed, and clients have the free use of fitness facilities and pool at the University of Ottawa. A free Globe and Mail newspaper is also available each day.
An LCBO liquor outlet is directly across the street, as is a Loeb's grocery store. There's also a Beer Store about a block away on Rideau. You're also about 4-5 blocks from the Rideau Shopping Center, and about the same from the Byward Market area, where you'll find an abundant choice of restaurants, pubs, cafes, and shopping outlets.
The only thing that I found missing from my room was a pen, but the front desk gave me one. It would be nice to have had a small fridge and a rubber bath mat, but there are neither in the room.
Directions: Corner of Rideau St. and King Edward St.
Well located for visits to downtown and Univ.
The Quality Suites Hotel is located at the corner of King Edward and Rideau. It's located at near the end of the Byward Market and just below the University of Ottawa.
The rooms are a decent size and offer comfortable beds. There is a Don Cherry's located in the lobby of the hotel which offers room service. The Hotel elevators are inconsistent and can often leave you waiting for 5-10 minutes.
Parking is underground and costs 9.50 per day. That's if you can find a spot in what I can only describe as the worst underground parking lot I've ever parked at.. If you can find a free parking spot....there are very few parking spots to begin with, then you must carefully park your car into this small hole of a spot.
When we were down in the parking lot, there was a yellow light flashing to indicate that Carbon Monoxide levels in the parking lot were at a dangerous level and that we should leave....ugh.
Ironically enough, the hotel's first 3 floors are a public parking lot which offers cheaper rates (3$ flat fee per day!!!) and generally more space to park your car without having a nervous breakdown.
Check out time is at noon.
For 100+ dollars a night, I think this hotel could do much better.
Unique Quality: Located near Byward Market, the Rideau Center, Parliament, and the Univesity of Ottawa.
It cost me $69.00 Canadian a night whn I was there I dont know how much it is now.
Unique Quality: It is comfortable, affordable and close to Byward Market. Right in Downtown Ottawa.
