Travel Tips for Owen Sound

Old Townhomes

by yooperprof

Owen Sound was a prosperous manufacturing center in the late 19th and early 20th century. I was glad to see that a good deal of the housing stock from 100 years ago has been preserved - and is still in relatively good condition!

Hunt for Waterfalls!

by hotsauce28

There are 7 waterfalls in Grey County (Owen Sound) but I only managed to find 3 of them.
Two of them were very touristy (but still beautiful) but my favourite one was the smallest at only 7 meters high - Hogg's Falls.

Hoggs Falls
Take Hwy 4 west to the East back line north. Turn east on Lower Valley road and look for two yellow posts on the north side. Look hard! There's also a yellow metal gate just east of the posts (that might be easier to find). Roadside parking.

Check the website for directions to the other falls

Chasing Waterfalls

"Hogg's Falls"

Searching for something to do this weekend.. something different from the usual going out in the city - drinking, eating...
A little google on the internet and TA DA!! I didn't even know we had waterfalls in Ontario!!

About 3 hours north of Toronto you'll hit the shores of Georgian Bay. Hike along the Bruce Trail or hunt for waterfalls, if you love nature - you'll love northern Ontario!
(i wonder if Ontario travel tourism is hiring..)

Grab a tent and sleeping bags, GO! Don't forget your hiking boots!

"Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada"

Nestled on the southern tip of the crystal-clear Georgian Bay, this small city of 20,000 people offers shopping, sightseeing, hiking, boating, fishing, hunting, eating, and the world-famous 'Summerfolk' festival where some of the greatest contemporary folk artists have played. Surrounding Owen Sound is Grey-Bruce County and the Bruce Peninsula, with hundreds of kilometres of green forests, small villages, and clean, clear beaches (Sauble Beach, Lion's Head, Port Elgin, Wasaga Beach). Its a definite place to go for the nature enthusiast, beware of the height of tourist season, though. All the cottages and campgrounds are usually gone by April.
