Isaiah Tubbs Resort & Conference Centre
1642 County Road 12, Picton, Ontario, K0K 2T0, Canada
I booked a small conference here. The facility was filthy, the staff was unfriendly, and one of my guest's wives was even asked to check out early because the next person wanted to check in early!! I'm embarrased that I used this place and urge you all to beware. It's far too expensive! The rooms are disgusting and the food was very poor quality.
Overpriced and under-cleaned
This resort is located in a beautiful setting, and while it may have been a very upscale place at one time, it is really showing signs of wear.
The staff was very friendly. We were given towels for use at either of the two pools, even before we had actually checked in. We arrived rather early, but were greeted with a smile and invited to make full use of the facilities until our room was ready. There are lots of activities available on the site.
Once we arrived at our room, however, we were rather disappointed. The room was in dire need of a cleaning, as were the carpets on the stairs and in the hallway of the building. There was no air conditioning in the hallways, and it was like a sauna until we got to our air-conditioned room. We had not been given any type of map with a floor layout, so it was like navigating a maze to find our room. We had not been told it was on the second floor, and that was a disappointment, as we had thought our room would have a screened porch.
The bathroom needed a good scrub, as well as a fresh coat of paint. The jets on the Jacuzzi needed to be cleaned, as there was a build-up of lime on them, and the metal around the faucet and fixtures was pitted. The non-slip mat in the tub was torn on the edges and was dirty looking. The bathroom sink had been chipped and repaired, and rust was coming through from under the patch. The floor needed a scrub, and the door could use a wipe down as well.
Although it was obvious the sheet on the bed was freshly washed, there was what appeared to be a bloodstain on it.
There was dust in the mesh on the corners of the fireplace screen, and there was a dark, sticky looking drip mark down the front of a cabinet that had never been cleaned up.
The towel in the kitchenette was threadbare and full of holes, and the stainless sink and countertop had seen better days. The fridge handle had been broken off, and there was dirt embedded in the jagged parts.
There was an air of shabbiness to the whole room, despite the hefty normal rate of $279/night.
Unique Quality: The view from the beach is gorgeous.
While the interiors may be lacking in care, the grounds are well maintained and very picturesque.
I have no doubt that it would be a beautiful place to hold a wedding.
There are lots of trails leading through the grounds, and the views are all quite lovely.
It's only a short drive to the Sandbanks beach, and apparently, passes are available at the front desk on a first come, first served basis.
At most hotels, ice is provided as part of the package, but not in this place, as bags of ice were only available for sale at the front desk.
Directions: Located on County road 12 just outside of Picton.

Fantastic Holiday Experience
We had a fantastic holiday at Isaiah Tubbs Resort. The weather was absolutely wonderful, and there was so much to do both on and off the resort. They had a beautiful beach where we sat and enjoyed the view. They had a surf shack were we rented a canoe and a paddle boat. We dined in a magnificent restaurant with impecable food. We ventured into a beautiful little town called Bloomfield which had wonderful shopping and ice cream! Our vacation was a sucess and we'll be sure to return!
A Retreat or a Treat!
Being from England we enjoyed our motoring around the County and by chance came across the Isaiah Tubbs Resort. They had a vacant room so we checked in and really enjoyed our stay. We walked miles along the beach, enjoyed a dip in the cool pool! and the hot tub........... The restaurant served us great food on the Meal Plan Option - take it, it's a bargain! A great place to stay, how we wish we had longer in Canada.
Had a great time!
We recently stayed at Isaiah Tubbs and had a great time!
The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and sent us to quite a few places that we never would have discovered otherwise. They really went out of their way to help us out.
The restaurant on the knoll had great food and service and a fantastic view of the lake.
We stayed in one of the Lodge rooms with the screened in porch and it was really great, comfortable beds, scenic view of the lake.
Sandbanks provincial park is literally a 5 minute drive away and is absolutely beautiful for a day at the beach.
Sad to say....
I've loved this "resort" for a long time.
My family and I have had many happy times at Isaiah Tubbs.
It's always been a bit of a splurge and a long time ago it was worth it. Sadly, it's not worth it any longer.
I was really disappointed during our last trip to find that the place is quite run down.
The large swimming pool is no longer open. The "tennis court" is dismal.
Maintenance is a massive problem: Our sink was chipped and then painted over with some type of whitener. Many other little repair problems that should have been dealt with properly but were not.
I love the Sandbanks (beach) and I still think that this is one of the best options in the area. I love the design of the place. Most of the rooms are very cute (at first glance). It's just completely overpriced considering the poor maintenance/lack of facilities.
On this recent visit, service was better than ever. Not sure why!
I've always found the staff in the past indifferent and unhelpful.
But this time there were two very friendly women at the front desk. Both were eager to help solve problems.
All I can say is that there's one room type that I still think is a pretty good deal. Can't remember the room number but it's in the main lodge. It has two stories. A double bed (or perhaps Queen) on the first floor and a single upstairs. It also has two bathrooms a nice fireplace and two large wingback chairs in front of the fireplace.
When we were there the room was under $200.00
I'm sorry to have to write a negative review for a place that I used to really enjoy visiting.
Overpriced, terrible food and accomodation,
Spent a few nights at the resort, the food was disgusting, rooms were dirty and it was overpriced. If you're going to Sandbanks or Picton, I would suggest staying the the small B&B's in the area.
Two families booked into VERY EXPENSIVE two, two bedroom suites. One lamp (no overhead lighting) for all of us to huddle around at night, bathtub had black footprints and a used bath sponge, towels had handprints where person had wiped dirty hands. Complained and was given a discount off one room. Pool was unspeakable and unuseable. Meals in the restaurant were lovely. Far more expensive than comparable resorts in Southern Ontario. Would stay in local B & B's instead next time.
Great place for a romantic getaway
We spent a night at the resort and was pleasantly surprised. Since the season hadn't really started yet it was very quiet and secluaded. We had a very large room with a separate bedroom in one of the lodges. The bonus was the screened-in porch that overlooked the lake. We had ordered a cheese tray and enjoyed spending the afternoon sipping wine and enjoying the sounds of nature.. There was a small refridgerator and microwave in the room as well as a coffee maker. Everything was clean and we enjoyed the cooler evening sitting by the fireplace. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. They also had a lovely restaurant overlooking the lake and we enjoyed a relaxing dinner. There are also many wineries in the area to tour and the night we dined there was a wine tasting. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening there and look forward to going back.
jacuzzi room made room steamy
I spent the night at this place because resort makes it sound very lovely. At first we were excited because it felt like we were at a log cabin. We were excited about the jacuzzi in our room. Little did we know, after using the jacuzzi our room stayed damp all night and we did not have a good sleep. We did not use the other facilities as we had to walk to get to them and it was winter. Will never go back especially after reading this site
