Excellent beach
Go swimming in the heart of the city at Ramsey lake Beach. we spent a couple pleasant afternoons there. We went picking blueberries one afternoon. It was great fun and we saw more of the surrounding moon rock type country.

Apart from Science North, is there anything else to do that weekend?
i suggest the following:
1. a hike through and boat tour of Ramsay lake inside the city.
2. rent a canoe and go canoeing in one of the several lakes outside of the city. one of them, simon lake, is 5 kms west of Lively, a city 30 kms NW of sudbury, is a picturesque lake. Lively city is a capital of snowmobiling in winters.
3. go for hiking along french river, fishing and / or rafting in it. there are several expeditions available.
That would look great for me, but I doubt my girlfriend would like it. Myself having even a hard time knowing what she likes. But I know should prefer staying in the city limits. But she likes watching sports.
I just wondering if there be something more romantic to do?
Ok i had thought that a romantic walk followed by a cruise on Ramsay lake would do it :-)
Sudbury and romantic are mutually exclusive-as Stompin' Tom wrote long ago.

Daughter's boyfriends boat at Penage Marina. We spent the day riding around the lake and later stopped at a friends cottage where we decided to have lunch. We went back to the Marina and at the grocery store there picked up food and beer. We returned to the cottage and after lunch we had a bath in the SAUNA beside the lake and jumped in the ice cold water afterwords. Boy did that wake one up.WOW!! Then it was time to go water skiing. I piloted the boat. My daughter's boyfriend skied.
I wasn't born here but was raised in this city. If you are the out doorsy type this is definetly a great place to visit and live.
There is plenty of places for fishing, camping, hunting, skidooing, jetskiing, windsurfing, etc.
As I child it was non-stop outdoor activity.
The fishing includes Bass, pike and pickerel (walleye) right in the center of the city.
There are also some great sites to see when you arrive in Sudbury.
The biggest attraction is always the Big Nickel and the tour of the mines, located on the outskirts of the city headed towards copper cliff.
There is Science North which is a great science center built on the black rocks and also built on a fault line. The imax theatre and dinosaur exhibit is all in the same location.
From the science north key you can take a boat ride on the Cortina to view all the beautiful homes built on Ramsey Lake. There is a boardwalk that follows the banks of the lake as well.
Bell park is beach number 5 of the 5 beach span. Great swimming at these beaches and lifeguard supervised during summer months.
There is also Moonlight beach which is the same lake only the other side and is great for kids cause you can walk forever and it will remain shallow.
A great site to see at Christmas time is the xmas light exhibit at Science north, they simply ask for a small donation to drive through. It's quite beautiful.
At night there is the slag drop which is a beauty on to itself. You have to call a phone number in the local phone book to find out the nights and times this is done. It's located close to the Big Nickel.
Summer time also has great blueberry picking as well as many festivals such as the blueberry festival and the Northern Lights festival.
its the funnist ever when the little NHL is in sudz check it out. I recomeded staying at the harword johnson it has a swimming pool and its fun...Visit the movies and watch something kool but if ur old enough go to solid gold that'll be the best place to check out and theres race track and casino
