Travel Tips for Sudbury

Everywhere is off the beaten path

If you like snow and ice you can go ice fishing on one of the many lakes in the area. Of course you can only do this in the winter which is from August to June. Just kidding ... ice fishing can be done around January to March just to be safe. Of course you need an ice fishing pole. Im pretty sure these are cheap. I'm not sure of where you can rent one.

"Sundbury attractions"

Are the Big Nickle, Dynamic Earth, Which are basicallyy near by each other ... based on the worlds biggest coin and about the 200th anniversery of the discovery of the nickle. Dynamic earth is the new attraction by the big nickle this basically is a science museum about earth science and mining. It is mostly operated Science North. Has created its own IMAX theater, you can see animals up close, build somethings, you could meet new people, walk around and learn new things, and you could also see some auditions or exibitions that are held there.

"Other Attractions !"

Summer Fest, GOlfing, Race/Horse tracks, Casino, Silver City, New Sudbury mall, and NHL (hockey games) and uhmmm you could stay at many hotels. !

"Nickel City"

I visited Sudbury on a field trip toward my degree in geology. Sudbury is an industrial city, leading the world in nickel production. From a distance, one can see the smoke from "big nipple" and the huge piles of slag.

Here's a picture of the house I owned at 407 York Street in Sudbury. This was the last night I was there before moving back to Vancouver.

All the junk you see out front was what several friends and I removed in the days previous.

If you look carefully you'll see a matress folded in half. My buddy, Mike W., and I had to cut it in half in order to get it out of the house. Strange that what goes in, doesn't come out, right? Yes, unless you do home renovations AFTER you've moved your furniture in! :-)
