Thunder Bay International Hostel
For family atmosphere...
This is a very good hostel - it's more like renting a room from a family, actually. They had three of four rooms if I remember well - with one or two beds. The couple running the hostel provides EVERYTHING, and you can even use their personal kitchen if you want to cook.
They're extremely sweet people - we were there on Easter Day, along with 4 or 5 other travellers, I think, and we were all invited to Lloyd and Wilma's (the owners) family Easter dinner. Lloyd even took a picture of my friend and I and sent it to us by mail! You won't find that anywhere else!
They have two cats, so you shouldn't stay there if you're allergic. The hostel is also sort of outside Thunder Bay, so if your plan to see the town by foot the following day, this isn't for you.
