The accomodations here are very plain, almost Spartan. Don't expect amenities like a pool, spa, gym, or even a lounge. But if you want to stay downtown, without spending big bucks, and just need a place to sleep, then this is it. Most who stay here are on a tight budget; they tend to be younger people, including many students. Some remain here for extended periods, so the hotel does have a pretty nice kitchen. Someone is always cooking up something good.

 | | | | Days Inn Toronto Downtown: Well placed to see the city Compare Rates NEW! | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
We enjoyed our stay at the Days inn Downtown. We found it well placed to get around Toronto being either a good 20-30 min walk to downtown or a 1 min walk to the subway station. We were wary to start, of using but we asked the very helpful receptionist who told us there was no problem. Of course she was right just newcomers nervousness. Also in the lobby was a selection of small shops,( barber, gifts travel agent), and a desk where you could book Taxi's or tickets for shows and events. The room was comfortable and clean with all the usual, hairdryer, tv etc. An indoor swimming pool is available for guests use. On the ground floor frontage of the hotel is a coffe shop and also a bar. I was quite impressed with the bar as they were showing a Leeds Utd match, (they were in the Champions League at the time), and had a good selection of beers. Very handy for Queen's Park and the University As I've already said we enjoyed our stay here and would reccommend it to anyone. We didn't need it but there is an $18 dollar a day fee for parking.
Almost on top of the Subway station so you can reach just about anywhere in the city. | | | | College Hostel: Cheap Bed, Nice People | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
College Hostel is run by a bunch of young, but freakishly attentive and responsible guys. I stayed in a dorm-style room, the cheapest they had, but it wasn't bad. The bunk beds are all your typical hostel metal-frame variety, the room was warm for the most part, and the carpet only looked slightly vomited upon. (kidding . . . sort of.) Anyway, what the hostel lacks in charm, it makes up for in price - dead cheap - and location - right in the middle of blissfully bohemian Kensignton Market. Overall, a very nice place to stay.
You can see the CN Tower from your room . . . that's about as close to it as you need to get anyway. Also, there's some perks like free local phone, free internet, and a non-disgusting kitchen that really make this place convenient. Also, there's no curfew or morning rise, so you can come and go as you please. Oh - and don't be a *** like me. When I got there, I went to the ladies (the only ladies that I could find) and saw only two toilets and a row of sinks. I thought to myself, "Crap, this is one of those hostiles with no showers that I have heard about." Since College Hostel is so cheap, I thought this was totally possible. Not so, though. In my room was this exchange student who'd been living there a solid month. She set me straight - the showers are in a separate room - down the hall, around the corner. Well, at least I now know that all I need is a package of Wet Ones and a determined will to get clean. | | | | Days Hotel and Conference Centre Toronto: Good budget hotel near College Metro Station Compare Rates NEW! | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
For a tourist or business traveler visiting downtown Toronto, the location is very good -- only a short walk to Yonge Street and the College metro station. Toronto's public transportation system is terrific and very easy to navigate. Also, for hockey enthusiasts, the hotel is only a few doors down from the site of the former Maple Leafs Garden Arena (which will soon be the site of a supermarket). If you want a luxury hotel, look elsewhere. However, if you want a no frills, budget hotel in the city center, this hotel may be a good choice for you. One drawback, though, is that it is a little far from the main entertainment district on King and Queen Streets. Also, while the front desk help was very friendly, both my check-in and check-out were unusually slow.
The hotel's breakfast buffet is okay, but a little pricey. Fortunately, there are a few other good breakfast options nearby including the Golden Griddle Family Restaurant directly across the street on Carlton -- and Fran's on College Street (Carlton becomes College when you cross Yonge). I have one suggestion for people travelling on a budget and really do not have money for hotels and have no one to stay with. One suggestion, is to stay at university and college campuses when they are not as busy, specifically over the summer. I have been told that they reunt out rooms then. Leave a Comment Theme: Other
