Went to Toronto for a show and got a great deal online at the Primrose hotel. It’s not the fanciest hotel in the city, but then again it doesn’t cost $500 a night. Got a decent size room with a king bed, sitting area and large bathroom. The room was clean and the staff was really friendly and helpful. The hotel was quiet and was able to get a good nights sleep. It’s a great place to go for value and service. I would definitely return there again if I am in the city.

Wonderful Time
Stayed at the Primrose Hotel as our usual hotel was full for the weekend. We were very happy with our choice. We were given a large king room on the 19th floor with a great view. I was also impressed with the cleanliness of the entire hotel in general as I find this to be a good indicator of the management of the property. The staff were very pleasant and friendly and always smiling. I was very happy with my choice and will now probably change my preferred Toronto hotel to them.

Friendly Staff
The staff at the Primrose hotel are always so friendly and helpful and always make me feel so welcome. I have to travel to Toronto several times a month for treatment and I always stay at the Primrose hotel as they have special hospital rates which really help ease the costs of my travel.
Unique Quality: The pool and the location downtown toronto is excellent.

Good hotel in perfect location!
We stayed here in August and really liked this hotel! We stayed at the deluxe suite. I found a big king bed and a nice sofa. It’s very comfortable room with a big window to see the city view. Free internet access and local phone call under 30 minutes. We loved the location, very close to the business locations and many attractions, easy to get public transportation like taxi or metro. You'll never be far from where you need to be. The breakfast was delicious. The staff was helpful and very well trained. Everything about it is very nice, the service is excellent. If you travel to Toronto, you should consider staying at this hotel.

If You Only Want a Place to Rest Your Head...
We've stayed at this hotel twice - once with a large group of people occupying two rooms for a birthday party, and once when me and three girlfriends were going out for a night as a going away party. In these situations it was a great place to stay because all we needed was somewhere to get ready and then sleep before and after the bar. It's nothing high class and from what I remember a number of the floors are dedicated as student residences during portion of the school year (for one of the crowded Toronto Universities). We've always had a good rate when we stayed and it always served it's purpose. I would recommend it more for students or young people looking for an inexpensive place to stay while they are in the city - or if you're looking for a place to stay for one night while you take in Toronto's Nightlife!

Near to the city
The hotel was okay, but it coud be better.
Positiv: It it is not far from the city.
Negativ: The badroom was not real clean. You have to pay for the parking space.
We had no Breakfast in the hotel. But we found a little bakery (Tim Horten) just around the corner of the hotel. There you get a good little breakfast.

Great Views, Good Hotel
Perhaps not the cheapest place in town, nor the plushest, but a flawless performance from this mid-market hotel - everything as descibed in the brochure. Friendly and helpful reception, reasonable rooms, internet worked, and, on the 13th floor where my room was, great views.
Not as full-service perhaps as it pretends to be, but that's not a problem given its location, 5 minutes walk from Yonge Street, a 24 hr restaurant pretty much next door, and the choice of the tram system or the subway also within a few minutes walk.
Yes I would stay here again, particularly for the accessibility to the excellent public transport system.
Unique Quality: Proper Coffee Mugs!!!
Airport transfer (by taxi) arranged exactly on time and at a decent rate.
The freebie guide-map is also quite useful.

I stayed at the Best Western...
I stayed at the Best Western Primrose, close to Maple Leaf Gardens. Didn't have any bad experiences, but would have preferred being a little closer to the subway in November.
This last week, I stayed at the best western primrose hotel and had a great time. Below is a quick summary of the goods and bads of this hotel.
Positive: 1. The location is near downtown, walking distance from a lot of attractions. Since toronto is so large, its difficult to be near all of the sites that you would like to visit. This hotel is near the Eatons Mall, Yonge Street (very busy street), 30 mins walking to most neighborhoods--- little italy, kensington market, china town, yorkville. Plus its 2 blocks away from a subway station. However, east of jarvis does get a bit scary at night. I would avoid this part of town during the night, even though I found toronto to be a safe city.
2. The staff are great. They seem a bit over-worked, but will take the extra time to assist you. For example, I was able to get the front desk staff to call and reserve discounted theatre tickets for myself and my friend.... she was also helpful enough to mark-up a map for the best walking tour of the city. It made for a great day and night!
3. The rooms are large and some have a fridge and microwave. Get a high south facing room to have a nice view of the city. There is a small outdoor pool and sauna.... and a restaurant in the lobby, however it isn't open always for lunch or dinner. If its open, its convenient for a quick bite....
4. Theres a donut/coffee shop in the lobby that opens super early and super late!
NEGATIVE
1. The rooms are dated. I moved rooms when I first arrived to only realize that the entire hotel needs a renovation. However, I didn't spend a lot of time in my room, so I wasn't bothered too much.
2. The lifts are slow and old... I have a fear of highest and this didn't help!!!!
3. The restaurant has reduced hours... I had one breakfast in the restaurant and it was only fair. Not too exciting.
I hope this helps anyone that is planning on staying at this hotel. Overall stay for the friendly service and location..... not if you are locking yourself in the room for the entire vacation... you would go crazy in these rooms.

I do not recommend this hotel. It is in a seedy area of town and staff are not very friendly. The hotel is extremely old and in dire need of refurbishment in all areas. Peeling wallpaper, old heating system (I slept in my sweatshirt hoody and needed to keep hood on my head because I was freezing!), dirty furniture, etc. The 'breakfast' is something to be desired as well - they look like eggs but they don't taste like eggs!
Cheap for downtown - I can see why.
by A TripAdvisor Member
I think someone tries to make it work here. They're giving away free breakfast (although it is pretty awful) and it's $90 a night for downtown Toronto. Something had to be wrong. It's very worn, a little stale smelling. Free wireless internet is less than reliable. The room I had was adequate, bedsheets and bathroom were clean. Little noise. Handy for downtown shops (10 minute walk,) gay village area and Maple Leaf Gardens. Saw some hookers, but I don't think they're troublesome - just unsightly. Area seemed rundown/busy but not dangerous. Handy for Ryerson, U ofT, museums and Yonge Street as well. Tram runs right outside, some staff were great, others were plain rude. Worth it if you're trying to save your money I suppose - I couldn't find anything as cheap in the city centre.
Great Service - My new Home
by TripAdvisor Member IH8VegasMan
I am a frequent business traveller and I just found my new home away from home. The hotel is in a great location and the in and out privilages in the parking garage are very convenient. The staff are really friendly and as I am a frequent traveler, they know my preferred room when I arrive. The rooms are very spacious and clean and have wireless highspeed internet which is free to use. The restaurant serves a great buffet breakfast and the staff are very polite and helpful. I would definately recommend this property to anyone looking for a Toronto hotel as the service provided far exceeds that found at the larger properties where you are just another face. The personal touches really make the stay worthwhile
lived there as student
by A TripAdvisor Member
had many problems with this hotel, all of the hotel staff treated the students liveing there like they didnt exist. second is they promised high speed internet and when i had dial up it was faster and whenever i would call down to complain about it they would just tell me to call my don who whould just email the tech guy who lives all the way out in missasoga. i had many other issues with this hotel and definitly recamend any student planing on staying there to go some where eles, for what there offering they are very over priced.
