NOVOTEL HOTEL, DOWN TORONTO

by NSWP

G'day, thinking of booking Novotel Downtown, Toronto for 3 nights to do Niagra Falls day trip and look around Toronto. Any of you locals know much about the Novotel is it OK?..eg, location, comfort etc. Reports on TripAdvisor vary.

We are in Toronto for the 3 nights post cruise from Quebec City (arriving from Quebec City by ViaRail) and from Toronto fly on to San Francisco.

Thanks.

I've stayed at the Novotel on Young North of the 401. Found it to be excellent. I'm sure the downtown Novotel would be similar caliber. Location downtown should be fine. Walking distance from Via Rail depending on how much luggage you have. Depending on the time of your flight to San Fransisco, you may want to move a little closer to the airport the night before you fly out. The sheraton attached to the airport is very convienient. I stayed there for $140 a night in Feb. Transit time from Downtown to the airport could be an issue if you are traveling during rush hour. US customs can slow things quite a bit at the airport too.

I have stayed at the Novotel on Esplanade. It is a bit business oriented but, VERY convenient location. Next to Union Station and close to just about everything.

And close to "The Old Spagetti Factory" too! ;}

My friend has stayed here and spoke well of it. The location is perfect in terms of proxity from the train station and subway system. If you're driving to Niagara Falls (?) you are also very close to the highway out of town. I'm sure you will enjoy your stay. And if you enjoy beer...there's a great restaurant called the Bier Market which is close by - http://www.thebiermarkt.com/home.html

Enjoy your stay!

Travel Tips for Toronto

Sisters in Toronto

by malianrob

Like i said before, the main reason I went to Toronto was to see Niagara Falls. It has been something I wanted to do since i was about 12 years old and our friend Magda went with her family. She brought back pictures and I knew I needed to come to this place.
What I loved about Toronto was that it never occured to me to come here, so i didnt really have expectation of this place. People talked about the diversity of Toronto and all that stuff but until you are there and experience it for yourself you really cant relate to it.
My sister and I walked all over the Financial and entertainment district unit late at night and we always felt pretty safe. I felt like Michelle and I bonded during this trip and we had the best time. She was an awesome travel companion! I cant wait for the next trip.

Even a Pigeon Needs a Ride

by CdnJane

This was taken on Highway 400 heading south to Toronto, as we were stuck in traffic. I know that they have to get the pigeons around, but it still struck me as amusing. Transport for lazy/tired pigeons! (I sometimes have a strange sense of humour)

visit Yorkville St.
Yorkville offers some of the best upscale fashion shopping experiences in Town. If names like Tiffany, Armani, Prada and Versace, make your heart race this is the place to go.

Nearby Yorkville there is Toronto's most upscale mall along with fine restaurants, boutiques as well as world class Galleries to explore.

Loonys and Toonys

by FlirtyFlorida

If you are going to be dealing with Canadian money, the most important thing to remember is that a "Loony" is a copper coin worth $1.00 and a "Toony" is a silver and copper coin worth $2.00! Don't get them mixed up with other pocket change!

Note: There are no $1.00 bills used.
