Lunch in Toronto Eglington and Bayview area

by andymano

HI
Travelling to Toronto and staying around Bayview/Eglikngton area. Looking for a good Luncheon spot Preferably Italian or european
Thanks

Re: Lunch in Toronto Eglington and Bayview area

Hi Andy, I know the area but not well enough to name specific restaurants unfortunately. On Bayview south of Eglinton, there are many restaurants to choose from - Thai, pubs, Italian ... a lot of choice.

At Sheppard/Bayview, (n. of Eglinton) in Bayview Village Mall there are two restaurants - Il Fornello's, which is good for pasta, pizza, etc. The salads are huge, if that interests you. Also, Oliver & Bonacini's - again pasta, pizza, and varied entrees.

Not on Bayview, but on Yonge Street, there is La Vecchia which is about 10 minutes walk north from Eglinton. (Not sure if they're open for lunch - must check).

Travel Tips for Toronto

CN Tower on the Cheap

by MissAntarctica2002

A couple of years ago, my sister discovered a way to experience the CN Tower for less money. As many VTourists have comiserated on this site, there is a fee ($12 I think) to ride the elevator up the CN Tower. People who eat at the 360 Restaurant (it revolves and shows an incredible view), get to ride the elevator for free. Dinner there is really expensive, but lunch is much more reasonable. So, plan on going there for lunch, and you can see the observation decks etc. for free. You'll probably spend as much as you would have on the elevator ride, but you get lunch out of it too.

Map of the Toronto Island Park

by freddie18

Toronto Island Park is a place to unwind. Spend more time here because there is so much to do aside from relaxation. Spend a day!

Can you see the map of the Toronto Island Park? This is what I am telling you. It is so huge that you almost have no time to sit. This is if you really want to explore the whole of it.

As soon as you disembark from the Ferry Boat, you will see the map right in front of the entrance of the Centre Island. Check and see so that your walking will be smooth and you have nothing to miss.

For schedule of trip to the Centre Island Park and other details, refer to the link provided.

Go Leafs Go!

by Marta23

Go to any local bar and see a hockey game! Toronto is crazy about their hometown team, and hockey in general.
The NHL season begins in October and ends in June. During the play-offs (usually beginning in early May), the pubs are filled with cheering, beer-drinking and devoted fans.
So if you're in town, see a game and join the team spirit! After all, hockey is a Canadian sport!

NOTE: Unfortunetly, there is no NHL this year, but we're patiently waiting for the next season to begin.
