It's known as one of Toronto's swankiest Hotels. The Royal York has been acquired by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts group, so that will ensure it remains a high-quality, high-priced Hotel.
The rooms are small, the service is great, and the atmosphere is very posh.
Unique Quality: Other than an excellent location for sight-seeing, Theatre going, and Convention-attending, the Royal York was a bit of a let down. For the money, the rooms were not much to rave about. Considering they cram more than 1340 rooms into the building, it's no surprise they aren't very big.
My picture doesn't capture the beauty of the Hotel's exterior.
Directions: Right near CN Tower and Toronto Convention Centre. Near Theatre District.
Fairmont Royal York Hotel
Unique Quality: This hotel is a Toronto landmark, and while it's changed hands several times it still remains a special place to stay. Very luxurious but not obscenely priced.
They've got extensive workout facilities so you can stay in shape as well.
Another plus is that it is connected to Toronto's PATH system; an underground walkway system in the downtown core which allows you to roam around without braving the elements.
It's near Harbourfront, SkyDome, CN Tower, theatre district, ACC, and downtown shopping.
I stayed here before I moved to Toronto, we were attending a concert at the SkyDome and the hotel was wonderful!
I took the pic while standing beside the Air Canada Centre.

Unique Quality: We were lucky we stayed with my daughter's in this beautiful house which she no longer owns as she moved to Sudbury.
The Royal York on Front Street is historically one of the finest hotels in North America. It includes many fine restaurants including BeniHana.
