The Rex Hotel - Toronto Ontario, Canada

This place is a dump! As another review on another website indicated - this is an expensive hostel!

You have to request a private washroom and when you do, the shower leaks. There is no front desk, as you have to check in at the bar. Further there is no telephone, no soap, no shampoo and is as basic as you can get, with worn bed sheets - and all for the low rate of $130.00 per night.

I saw better accommodations in barns in my subsequent trip to Prince Edward County.

Another lovely element to our stay, was the manager or owner, Bob. Bob was a little slice of heaven (sarcasm). We requested a late check-out (1 hour) and we had to ask this guy three times before he gave us answer and in the end, he only permitted us 30 minutes.

I was astonished as this Manager/Owner Bob was dismissive and ignorant. If you can find a hostel or the closest Barn, I am confident that two things will happen in comparison to the Rex, you will pay less and receive more professional and friendly service.

Oh and by the way, if you are traveling with baggage that is somewhat heavy, you have climb one or two flights of stairs to get your room and there was no offer from the bar staff (because there is no front desk) to carry your baggage to your room. This point is significant because there is no elevator, so this place is not wheelchair accessible.

To call it a dump would be kind.
