Beautify City!
by beautybee
Windsor Ontario is a beautiful place to visit. Especially in the thick of Summer when the trees are in bloom and the city throws countless street festivals and the like. It is clean, quiet and easy to find your way around. The streets are pretty simple to negotiate and the residents are always helpful when in need. It is a city that makes most of its income on tourist dollars from U.S. citizens, so they work extra hard to please. I always feels safe when I visit Windsor. Night or day you have the feeling you could walk down the street with money hanging out of your pockets and no one would bother you.
WINDSOR AREA WINERIES
by LoriPori
The Lake Erie North Shore DVA (Designated Viticulture Area) is a winemaker's paradise blessed with exceptional soil conditions and a regional climate which offers longer sun hours and greater heat units than any other area in Canada. In fact, geographically speaking, it is located as far south as northern California and the Tuscany region of Italy and further south than the Bordeaux and Burgundy wine regions of France.
Our region produces luxury icewines, a range of whites like Vidal, Chardonnay, Riesling and Gewurztraminer and reds such as Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Baco Noir. In all, there are about 1,100 acres of vineyards in Essex County and Cedar Springs near Blenheim.
Colio and Pelee Island remain two of the five largest Ontario wineries by volume. They're also two of the four largest producers of VQA wines that contain only Ontario grapes.
There are many Wineries in the Windsor area.

BERT WEEKS MEMORIAL GARDENS - NOON MARK
by LoriPori
The NOON MARK is made up of two upright wings with a narrow space in between them. When the sun is at its highest point in the sky, it shines directly into this narrow space.
A shadow is cast by the protruding needle - the shadow and the protruding needle are facing true north. Detroit and its impressive skyline can be seen across the river and is due north of Windsor.
C-C Whiskey Whiskers
by janetanne
You might wonder why there are cats in the Whiskey Distillery! Well, not only do they make the place look friendly and humane, but there was a very practical reason Hiram Walker had cats at his distillery. Where there are grains, there are mice! What better way to keep the pesky little critters out of the good grains that to have a fat cat on the payroll 24 hours a day??? Lucky cat!
Even today, you can meet the latest decendant of those early 'micers!' This friendly gal's name was 'C-C'...get it?? Canadian Club Cat! And that's that!
Cross Country Skiing
by windsorgirl
It is difficult for me to find inspiration to venture out of door during the winter months, except, however on those beautiful crisp days with a fresh layer of clean white snow and bright blue skies as pictured here. We generally don't receive alot of snowfall here in southwestern Ontario, but when we do, I try to get out before it melts for some cross country skiing. My favorite spot is Malden Park. If you don't ski, bring the kids to the toboggan hill or the dog for a walk in the bush.
