Detroit

Detroit is the largest city in the U.S. state of Michigan. Detroit is a major port city on the Detroit River, in the Midwest region of the United States. Located north of Windsor, Ontario Detroit is a geographical oddity as the only U.S. city that looks south to Canada.
Windsor is linked to the United States by the Ambassador Bridge, the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, a Canadian Pacific Railway tunnel, and the Detroit-Windsor Truck Ferry

BERT WEEKS MEMORIAL GARDENS
by LoriPori
Windsor Mayor from 1975 to 1982, Bert Weeks was an avid gardener and remembered for advocating the beautification of Windsor's waterfront along the Detroit River.
The BERT WEEKS MEMORIAL GARDENS and plaza are dedicated to the former Windsor Mayor who got the ball rolling for the entire riverfront park system in the mid 1970s. They contain a terraced garden, plaza, and a small bridge around a bay, also linking the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel pumping house. . It has many trees and lamps along the trails to add to the already wonderful scenery. Featured among the Gardens is the Noon Mark, which I will explain about in another tip. A plaque in front of the Gardens reads:
"Featuring spacious plazas, formal and naturalized gardens, Bert Weeks Memorial Gardens links the walking and cycling paths along the Detroit River.
Designed by local architect Michele R. Di Maio, the waterfall and reflecting pool serve as a focal point for his innovative park design."
Apple Picking in the Fall
by windsorgirl
A great fall outing is to take the family to one of several apple orchards in Essex County for a day of apple picking. Kids (and some grown ups) like to climb the trees and taste the freshly picked fruit while enjoying the crisp fall air.
Some popular orchards are Thiessen's, Hric's and Scherer's
Free Ice Skating Downtown
by windsorgirl
A fun winter activity for the entire family is ice skating. In downtown Windsor, there is a free outdoor skating rink at Charles Clark Square.
The rink is open from 10am to 10pm daily from December to March, weather permitting. There is also a concession stand here so you can warm up with a hot chocolate afterwards.
