Hidden birds

Maybe I shouldn't tell because our favorite part of it is that nobody goes there... Just a few weeks ago, at the begining of march, as we went to greet the birds after the ice melted a little on the river, there was no print in the snow. No print! We were the first to see the birds this year! It's silly, I know...
On the La Lievre river, just above one of the Brascan dam, birds from who-knows-where, swan and ducks mostly, bathes in the river as if they owned it. We park the car behind a Dollar store and go down the hill to the river to feed them bread, sing with them and take some pictures... Like kids I guess...
A nice way to get some fresh air in between two seasons... Between ice fishing and summer fishing maybe...!

Seniors tour, Had Brunch at the Casino and played the slots for 2 hours then took the cruise boat Jaques-Cartier for a 5 hour cruise down the Ottawa River to Montebello Quebec, where are tour bus was waiting to take us home.

We were 398 Seniors ( 8 bus loads from across Quebec) out for a day and a cruise.

"Still discovering..."
My friend moved here a few months ago and Gatineau has since become my second home where I spend a few week ends every month. I liked it from the beginning and I'm enjoying discovering it at every trip. This page will surely grows as time goes by... as Gatineau continues to make an impression on me.
Even before moving here, we liked the region and came to fish Maski in the River and lakes. Can't wait to see what this summer has to offer!!
The nature lover in me breathes freely. The road from Montreal is beautiful. A 2 something hours trip to imerse yourself in the calm and beautiful nature of the region... And that's nothing compare to what the region has to offer.

Gatineau Park - Mackenzie King Estate

"Poppy pod"
The rock garden of the Mackenzie King Estate had some beautiful poppies. They were just getting into bloom, so there were many still in the bud state. Taken from the right angle, with the lens set wide open for a very narrow depth of field, this one looks rather like some strange animal.

A lot of visitors to Gatineau Park stop in at the Tea Room for a bit of a snack
