This is an excellent inn. The owners are friendly and helpful, the rooms are charming, and the food is delicious. The location, at the far end of town, overlooking the entrance to the fjord itself, is beautiful and tranquil. There’s a large porch around the front for watching the sun set. The inn was built in the early 1900s specifically as an inn, but not really for tourists, so individual rooms are small. They are, however, comfortable, immaculate, and attractively furnished. There are also rooms in Rosalie's House next door, for larger groups or longer stays.
If you can’t stay here, at least eat here. The restaurant is listed as well as one of the best in town, and even my simple breakfast was very well done and was beautifully presented.
The staff at Gites du Fjord were friendly and helpful. The units are clean and have a view of the fjord. We had two bedrooms, a fireplace, livingroom, dining room, kitchen and bathroom. We ate many meals in (it has the capacity for that) and picked up groceries locally as well as what we brought with us).
The weather was cool, so we didn't need air conditioning. The marina and kayaks were close to us - although it was too cool for us to take a cruise from this lovely spot.
Great view of the fjord!
