La Maison de Ville: Chique gourmet stay
The B&B is just off the main strip so in 1-2 minutes you could be at the shops, pubs, and restaurants of downtown Magog.
There are 5 rooms. We stayed in La Troisieme which has a double bed, private washroom. The clawfoot tub is actually in the room. Large windows. The room has a lot of character which we liked and a view of the school across the street.
The living room and kitchen of the B&B are charmingly decorated in a mix of modern and heritage furniture and colours that work really well. Martin, the decorator used to design the window displays of Zone (an urban furniture/decoration store in Montreal, Ottawa).
If you can, definitely stay for dinner which is at 7pm. You need to reserve 24 hours in advance. Simon, the cook, whips up extremely creative food that kept surprising us with how well the textures and tastes went together. Dinner was very affordable at $40 each for a 4 course meal: for example, brocolli soup with some kind of leaves and large tasty croutons in it, Stanstead rabbit stuffed with chorizo and dried apricot, dessert was pastry shell filled with white chocolate and toasted almonds with a dark chocolate coulis. I never enjoyed white chocolate before this! You can bring your own wine. Breakfasts which are included were delicious too: the standout breakfast was buckwheat crepes filled with old fashioned ham, spinach, cottage cheese, tomatoes with honey sauce.
Simon and Martin can also help you to plan your trip. They mentioned a boat captain they know who gives great tours of the Lake with dinner.
The only drawback of this place is that they don't have wireless internet yet. But there's a cafe with wireless a minute away.
Breakfast and dinner here are not to be missed.
Simon and Martin, the hosts, are bilingual and very attentive.

Lakeview Inn: A lovely Victorian inn in Knowlton
If you decided to explore the area around Magog and end up in Knowlton (see my Off the beaten path tip), I recommend you complete your "Victorian experience" by staying at Lakeview Inn, a charming historical inn built in 1874. It is located in the heart of Knowlton, just a short walk away from all the boutiques and restaurants. The inn and its 28 rooms are both luxurious and cosy, combining "the charm of a glorious past and the comfort of the modern age".
The inn's dining room serves exquisite cuisine, and for a more casual meal, you can eat at the inn's authentic Victorian pub (try the spicy Brome Lake duck wings!). There is also a heated swimming pool.

Club Azur: Great for the summer
We were here for around a week. This is essentially a condo estate, most of which are privately owned. There's a tennis court an indoor pool and plenty of walks round the lake Memphremagog which the town is famous for. The 2 condos we stayed in were really nice and it was just like a home away from home. Our family had never really been away together before and the set up was great for the 8 of us.

Cafe Creme: A great place to stay in Magog
Annick and Christophe welcome you in their beautiful Victorian-style house (built in 1898) located on a quiet street in downtown Magog. The rooms are comfy and beautifully decorated, with a private ensuite bathroom. The guests lounge is nice and well furnished - visitors will find lots of information about Magog, a chess table, a piano, books, etc. Your hosts will also invite you to make the most of their beautiful courtyard.
Also, you will be amazed at how good the four-service breakfasts are - you probably won't need to eat lunch afterwards! Magog's main street and Lake Memphremagog are only a short walk away so you won't have to worry about parking downtown.
For a small fee, you can have access to the jacuzzi and there's also a massage room. And there's also a Harry Potter room for kids!

A tout venant: A nice option..
A nice big house in downtown Magog.
We had a beautifull room with a private solarium. The shower was a bit small (Can't fit 2, so.. )
But the house was very beauifull.
The only problem with this house, I find is that the hosts basically just arrived in Canada and took over this place withouth previous experience in this kind of business. (One is an ex metallurgic company guy and the woman, a chemist) and as much as they try, the place still feels a bit cold and impersonal. I also found the other guests fairly uncomfortable, which is kinda bad in a bed and breakfast where the atmosphere should be, in my opinion, light-hearted.
Also, the breakfasts are the kind you could make at home, so..why bother.
THEY DON'T TAKE CREDIT CARDS

The rooms at L'Ancestrale
This is to give you an idea of the rooms you'll find at l'Ancestrale. This is the room we got the second time we went over. We were the first to sleep on this brand new bed! (YEAH!!) :)
All rooms have a beautifull view and have a very homey, country feel. When you come in the first night, you'll find nice candles in your room and a little chocolate on your pillows and loads of other nices little touches that make this place unique.

L'ancestrale Bed & Breakfast!: L'ancestrale Bed & Breakfast!
85 canadian dollars a night
This is by far the best Bed & Breakfast I've ever experienced!
You really feel like a friend rather than a customer and you can feel Monique's special touch wherever you go in her beautifull Neogothic house! The architecture, the piano, the fireplace, the rooms..the food..everything is so pefect and nice! Also, if you have no knowledge of the area, Monique is a great guide. She will also arrange activities, do restaurant reservations and set you up in another B&B in another area if needed. An experience like no other!
