This is perhaps the most tastefully decorated, friendly, and warm place I've ever stayed! The rooms are simple yet stunningly beautiful; old-town rock and brick walls, fine spotless wood floors, fantastic paintings and prints, large rustic wooden shutters, and a fireplace. This feels like the home you always wished you had; the word "cozy" doesn't even begin to cover it. By the end of our stay we really didn't want to move out. We were greeted at the door by Mikael and the Auberge's friendly little dog, "Elliot". The funny, tiny dog will move from one person to another, quietly waiting for a pat on the head, until he's satisfied everyone's said "Hello." Over the next three days Mikael took fantastic care of us; he suggested restaurants, asked how our trip was going, cracked jokes, and made entirely sure our stay was a pleasant one. We really looked forward to seeing both him and Elliot on our way in and out. Breakfast is included in your stay, served in a gorgeous tranquil breakfast room with two long tables and an overhead skylight. The food was plentiful and made to order. You get choice of 4 juices, coffee, toast, fruit salad, croissants, pastries, an omelette or French toast. On our returns to the Auberge in the evenings, we found our room had been perfectly cleaned and our things tidied up and properly arranged. Brand new bars of soap appeared in the bathroom. The location of this inn couldn't be better. It's right in the heart of Old Montreal, on the main street, within minutes walking distance to Place Jaques Cartier but far enough away so that it's not too noisy at night. Although the Sans Soucy is expensive compared to other regular Montreal hotels, you will find that it's perhaps the least expensive of it's kind in "Vieux-Montreal". And worth every penny! I have never been treated so well!
A complete no-smoking environment. Rooms with faux-fireplaces and spa bathtubs. Free Internet wi-fi. A friendly little dog named "Elliot." I can't say enough about this beautiful hotel in Vieux Montreal. The owners, Daniel Soucy & Michael Banks, are the perfect hosts. My favorite employee, Martin Coutu, was both charming & quite helpful with information. Room 104 had air conditioning, a flat screen T.V., a faux (i.e. electric) fireplace & a jacuzzi tub.
Every morning from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. a bountiful communal breakfast is served downstairs. Daniel cooks French toast & omelettes (spinach & feta; ham & cheese; four cheeses; tomato, basil & Parmesan; or smoked salmon) to order. You also have your choice of various juices (passionfruit, apple, etc.), croissants & pain au chocolat. In addition, a small fruit bowl is served. This breakfast is included in the price of the room. Part of the lobby of the hotel is used as an art gallery.
